First Venom Base Empty
PostSubject: First Venom Base   First Venom Base I_icon_minitimeMon Jan 12 2015, 15:19

Had some time this weekend to focus on basing some of my models and did a Venom / Skimmer base.

Materials:
- Brown Rocks - pieces of cork from a bottle of wine
- Black Rocks/sand - Army Painter Black Battleground basing material
- Grass - Army Painter Highland Tuft
- Ruins - Resin Sprue Bit from a Forgeworld model, Necron bit for pipe going to the ground

I think it turned out pretty good (other than the bad stream of Typhus Corrosion on the back side).  How do you guys think it turned out? (Venom is not finished)

Nice - though I'd be tempted to paint the cork myself.

It's good to see those forgeworld bits coming in useful - I've got a few myself that I though could look decent as a concrete barricade so it's interesting to see on used that way.

I may go back and paint the cork in some way here in a bit. The brown, as is, provides a nice contrast to the black and compliments the grass though. If anything I'm certain that I'll be coming back to it since I've thought about it too.

As for the FW Sprue Bits - a friend purchased 3 Dymocarans and 3 Malathropes a couple months back and was going to throw out all of the sprue bits. I grabbed all of them for basing and ruin creation. I hope to find time in the coming months to use some of the bits as the support pieces for a custom made Promethiem Relay Pipe fortification.

If you're looking to do a pipe - try amera.co.uk - they make vacuum formed scenery we use at my club (and are the company with which I'm hoping to put a big order in soon to build a modular table).

They do a pretty decent looking pipe.
