| That's to each their own of course, but I begin with tallarn flesh, then add bleached bone to that, a wash of gryphonne sepia, another layer of tallarn+bone, then add some deneb stone to that. _________________ Kabal of the Shadow Phoenix - Background Kabal of the Shadow Phoenix - Painting BlogModelled: 2753 pts Painted: 2263pts - shamroll wrote:

| Mmmm, skin.
After a couple of attempts I went with a lazyman's method:
Undercoat Chaos Black
Basecoat Dheneb Stone
Wash Leviathan Purple
Highlight Dheneb Stone
Extreme highlight (if necessary) 1:1 Dheneb Stone + Skull White

| Basecoat:1:1:3 Shadow Grey/Tallarn Flesh/Space Wolves Grey Shade with a mixture of Vallejo Smoke and Leviathan Purple Wash Highlights: I mix in SW Grey first, then white. It's all approximate. I matched the skin tone that I mixed from God-knows-what ten years ago for my original DE army. I tried using the Fortress Grey washed with Asuramen Blue, highlighted with Fortress Grey and Skull White on my Haemonculi and got almost identical results with less work | |

| I use
P3 Midlund flesh and GW Bestial Brown 1:1 Wash with GW Ogryn Flesh Highlight with P3 Midlund flesh Highlight with P3 Midlund flesh and P3 Morrow White Add final highlight of GW Elf flesh
My DE tend to be a warmer tone, since I am not a big fan of the more grey tone the Heavy Metal team seems so fond of. _________________ The Dread Pirate Garness Visit my occasionally update blog | |

| I start with a base of Dheneb stone. I then wash some heavily watered down Calthan Brown into the recesses. Then i highlight with a mix of Dheneb and White. Slowly adding more white until i finish off with pure Skull White. Extras: The eyes are then painted black. A thin line of white is painted within the boundaries of the black. Finish off with a dot of black in the middle of the white line. The mouth (if slightly open) is given a wash of thinned down black. _________________ Warriors of Chaos Chaos Space Marines Dark Eldar Warriors of Chaos 'distractions' thread
