Pillager and Tartaros Empty
PostSubject: Pillager and Tartaros   Pillager and Tartaros I_icon_minitimeFri May 15 2015, 14:02

Pillager Heavy Transport Barge......................................................................??? Points

Originally designed to transport large numbers of slaves, many Archons came to use the Pillager durring raids as a troop transport and heavy gunboat. Its two decks allow for large squads of Wyches and even Grotesques to reach the front lines, before jumping off right on top of the enemy. Alternatively, additional armor plates can be attached to provide Kabalite Warriors and Trueborn a safe firing platform. In addition, many Pillagers are equipped with additional Splinter Cannons to provide cover fire, or a large cannon turret on the upper deck to destroy enemy vehicles.

Unit type:
Vehicle (Super Heavy, Transport, Open-topped, Fast)

Equipment:
Twin-linked Disintegrator (front-hull-mounted)

Transport Capacity:
20 models

Special Rules:
Night Vision

Ballistic Skill: 4
Front Armor: 12
Side Armor: 12
Rear Armor: 11
Hull Points: 5

Options:
The Pillager may take any Dark Eldar Vehicle Upgrades.

The Pillager may replace its twin-linked Disintegrator the following:
Twin-linked Dark Lance.................................................................................??? Points

The Pillager may take up to four of the following:
Splinter Cannon (side-mounted on the upper deck)...........................................??? Points

The Pillager may take one of the following turret weapons:
Void Lance................................................................................................??? Points
Void Scythe...............................................................................................??? Points
Storm Vortex Projector................................................................................??? Points

The Pillager may take the following:
Enclosed Decks..........................................................................................??? Points
A Pillager with this upgrade adds +1 to its front and side Armor Value, no longer counts as open-topped and adds 10 fire points on each side.

Tartaros Reaper Engine................................................................................??? Points

Concieved by the Hex, the Tartaros is a biomechanical monstrosity of gigantic porportions. With heavy weapons on its four arms and tail, it is capable of destroying super-heavy vehicles and slaughtering other gargantuan creatures and masses of infantry alike. Its most feared weapon though is the gapping, tentacle-lined maw in its abdomen. Behind it lies an automated disection chamber. While the chirurgical instruments lining the fleshy walls begin to tear swallowed victims appart, the Reaper Engine feasts on their agony and uses the soul energy gained to heal damage done to it.

Unit type:
Gargantuan Creature

Equipment:
Five Close Combat Weapons

Special Rules:
Night Vision, It Will Not Die, Tartaros Maw*

Weapon Skill: 4
Ballistic Skill: 3
Strength: 10
Toughness: 8
Wounds: 7
Initiative: 4
Attacks: 4
Moral Value: 10
Armor Save: 3+

Options:
The Tartaros may replace up to three of its Close Combat Weapons with each one of the following:

Splinterstorm Cannon...................................................................................??? Points
The largest and most powerful splinter weapon known, the Splinterstorm Cannon rapidly fires its toxic crystal load with such force that it can pierce all but the strongest armor. Kabalite raiding parties only use it reluctantly though, since there are rarely any survivors left to enslave after a salvo from this weapon.

Range: 48''
Strength: 6
AP: 4
Special Rules: Heavy 12, Poison (4+)

Heavy Liquifier Cannon.................................................................................??? Points
Only the largest creations of the Haemonculi have enough acidic blood in their bodies to provide, let alone survive even one torrent with this oversized Liquifier. Once fired successfully though, it can turn entire infantry formations into lakes of molten flesh, blood and corrosive toxins.

Range: Hellstorm
Strength: 7
AP: D6
Special Rules: Torrent, Gets Hot!

Heavy Pain Projector...................................................................................??? Points
Essencially a super-sized Stinger Pod, this weapon was specifically designed to be carried by Tartaros Reaper Engines. It fires explosive pulses of pure agony, which leave those that survive paralyzed and helpless at the mercy of the Dark Eldar.

Range: 36''
Strength: 7
AP: 2
Special Rules: Heavy 2, Explosive (5''), Concussive, Strikedown

Flesh Gauntlet............................................................................................??? Points
Mindphase Gauntlet.....................................................................................??? Points
Scissor Hand..............................................................................................??? Points

The Tartaros may replace up to two of its Close Combat Weapons with the following:

Reaper Claw...............................................................................................??? Points
Reaper Claws are tentacle-like appendages, lined with segmented armor plates on the outside and numerous spikes and blades on the inside. Covenite counstructs armed with these grotesque weapons are known to crush their victims in a deadly and agonizing embrace.

Range: -
Strength: User
AP: 2
Special Rules: Close Combat Weapon, Specialist Weapon, Reaper's Embrace*

Reaper's Embrace
Instead of its normal attacks, the weapon user may attempt a Reaper's Embrace attack against a single enemy model in base contact. If it hits, the Reaper's Embrace attack causes D3 hits with the Destroyer Weapon special rule per weapon with this special rule.

Tartaros Maw
Add +1 for any non-vehicle model, non-monstrous-creature and non-gargantuan-creature removed as a casualty from close combat with the Tartaros Reaper Engine to its next It Will Not Die roll.

Note:
This is my attempt at creating a lore-friendly, functional and balanced super-heavy vehicle and gargantuan creature for Dark Eldar armies. For the later point though, I require help from the community; your suggestions for reasonable point values.
Feel free to discuss and make suggestions regarding the profiles and options, and even to draw your own concept art as well, but please keep the units' purposes in mind while doing so:
The Pillager is a heavy armed transport, similar to the Battlewagon.
The Tartaros is an anti-super-heavy weapon and general tough killing machine, akin to the Lord of Skulls.

Very cool Rok. I'm curious what you would point cost these models though? (At their base cost) I'm sure you have that written down somewhere. For me; 125 base for the transport and 350 for the Reaper engine. I may have gone a bit expensive on the the engine, especially when compared to the wraithnight, but the wraithnight is underpriced. Anyway, some really fun ideas Rok.I like the heavy pain projector best

If I might start on the Pillager, the base vehicle before upgrades seems to basically be a Tantalus with less Disintegrators shots and without the large spikes.
As a basic transport, it seems to basically fill the role we already have the Tantalus for.
If its original intention was as a means of holding and transporting captives, I would suggest reworiking the rules a little to better reflect that. Maybe an area effect similar to what the Corpsethief Claw gets - enemy units killed within say 12" of the Pillager give you extra victory points (to represent those fallen enemies being thrown into the Pillager as captives).

It does have similar base stats, that's true, but I was trying for something a little more "tanky". While the Tantalus is pretty much a better Raider (that counts as a tank for some reason), the Pillager would go a little into the direction of the Wave Serpent: It is a transport, but can have a lot of firepower, and it is a Dark Eldar vehicle, but actually not fragile.

I like that idea, but I'm not sure if a single vehicle should do something you'd normally buy an entire formation for.
