Here´s a simple tutorial for the bases.
This tool will be your best friend, not sure what the english word for it is.
You use it for making holes in leather.
With it I stanced alot of holes in a 1mm thick plasticard sheet.
Making 4mm, 3mm and 2mm "dots".
Putting some woodglue on the base, trying to cover around 50% with the dots and the rest with sand.
Sprayed them black, when they have dried and just chose your colour that you want. I took Vallejo Royal Purple(70810) and then add a edge with a raw-line of Vallejo Blue Violet(70811). Ended it with a quick drybrush with Vallejo Luftwaffe Unifrom WWII(70816).
You can paint the dots any colour you want, I went for purple since I like the contrast between purple and white. First I thought about red dots, but then I thought i would be to much. Since I planning to add red details to the models.
