PostSubject: Dark Eldars in ETC 2016   Dark Eldars in ETC 2016 I_icon_minitimeSun Aug 14 2016, 10:22

This year we had 2 Dark Eldar representatives in the ETC. Sergey Stazhilo-Alekseev, from the Russian team and Patrick Carter, from the Aussie team.

I obviously didnt count those that used Dark Eldar as cheap objective grabbers or webway portal bearers as Dark Eldar players, even if it was their main detachment.

In total, Dark Eldar got a 45% Winrate. I understand the sample size is very small (22 games, 2 players) but still not bad, as they faced the fiercest of competition. Props to them both for making us proud.

Thoughts?

I don't think that 50% is that great but considering that the rest of the players is playing the baddest and meanest lists it's actually quite good.

What about the guy using a crap load a vehicles? That might be a valid tactic.

Actually I made a boo boo. Its 45%, not 50%, but all things considered Is still great in my book. Fixed in the post.

I myself cant understand Patrick Carter's list for the life of me. I assume he is going null-deployment becouse of the scalpel squadron and comms relay, but barebones lance raiders? whats that about? Its not nearly enough for it being considered viable AV. Maybe he didnt have more Venom models? Maybe he's trying to win as a lictor shame would and values the extra HP over more firepower? I am honestly baffled that not only he had the guts to play that list in such a high stakes enviroment, but made it work, winning most of his games against terrifying army lists. I dunno how the arena didnt crumble below his huge commorrite balls.

Is there any chance you can get him to chime in and explain his thought pocess when making this list and how he planned to use it?

I will ask him for you (and us!) as he doesn't tend to do the forum things to my knowledge.

I am seeing him in person at the end of the month for the ATC - the Australian version of the ETC

He plays for Queensland while I captain Western Australia

Neither of us are playing DE mind you!

Thanks!

Regarding the ATC lists, apparently Lance raiders are a thing and I have no idea why.

Lance raiders are arguably better in almost every aspect over ravagers.

A ravager with three dark lances can shoot at one target, has av 11, 3 hull points and in no way could ever be objective secured- cost: 125

3 raiders can shoot at three separate targets, has av 10, 9 hull points and with the addition of troops becomes objective secured.

Target saturation, 3x mobility, the ability to be OS... I always use lance raiders over ravagers.

Yeah well, I consider lance ravagers worthless too so... Laughing
