Are Corsairs worth it without Ynnari?

I'm looking at Corsairs and am a bit gutted at the sheer loss of options (didn't help that they classed all the vehicles as craftworld now...). But I did notice that everything in the book can be Ynnari now! Sadly I hate Craftworlders with a passion so not great.

I'm just wondering if I would have to run Ynnari to get any use out of the feeble Corsair options. The Skyreavers are like naffer Scourges but troops, but the Cloud Dancers look pretty entertaining, and I do like the stupid idea of Jetbikes all carrying lances.

Has anyone had any experiences with them yet?

4 shardcarbines and a dark lance for 10pts less than a unit of rangers, the cheapest aeldari troop choice if you consider the transports you buy for everything else.

In my opinion this is the ideal choice for the third troops choice in a generalist Aeldari army that doesn't want points in troops. First 2 ought to be 2 5-mans of any de troops choice sharing a single raider.

For Troop fillers they are fine yes, but why still not take them as Ynnari? I honestly dont know why anyone with Eldar (other than Coven) wouldnt be Ynnari as of right now before Codex's comes out.

Battlefocus is kinda pointless.

This would be the only reason, but then you dont have the awesome rule

Battlefocus has its place - its not trigger dependant, always works and fixes the short range on some of the eldar guns or other movement options.

Is it as good as SfD? probably not.

I would definitely argue that PfP and RC for the DE and Quinns are worth keeping more often than not though

Rising Crecendo is better than SFD in many circumstances.

Personally, I think the versatility of Rising Crescendo is better than SfD. I don't see me running Ynnari Harlequins at all.

Power from pain is more grey - I think the army can benefit from both equally if built with one or the other in mind.

We are talking about Corsairs not harlequins........ And it was brought up corsairs as a cheap troupe for eldar, not harlequins (Harlequins has an amazing troupe you'll always take so you dont need the cheap Corsair unit to fill in a troop slot).

True enough - I actually think battlefocus on Corsairs is actually quite good. Close the gap, engage then potentially fall back and away from assaults. I just wish the trigger on RA was better

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you guys. I was hoping there was something that could be salvaged, but it seems they're destined for Death.

I was definitely planning on using Harlequins alongside my Dark Eldar, and Rising Crescendo is a hard thing to give up. I've always kind of liked Corsairs (space pirates!) and it's sad to see them so utterly gutted. I might have a play with Ynnari, using the Yncarne (seriously our transport size IC situation is a pain).

I'll have a play with some Jetbikes though, see how they work out (I have like 24 Reavers from a cheap buy back in 2008). Since I'll only be using a few Reavers appropriately drugged I might as well experiment with a heavy weapons group or two for funsies, and they could definitely get a kick out of Strength from Death.

Yeah most of my models will just be DE/Eldar now.

Other than like 15 of my bikes, we used to have 3 out 5 5 be fletchs (spelling) and had Voidsabers as a really good fast melee unit, now those models are wasted.

ALso my Balestrikes are wasted.
