Rangers Conversion Ideas

Well, the new Codex hit, and it hit with an oompf. The de-priced Rangers are a tasty treat for allies, but the models are disgustingly outdated and badly priced. Any fun idea for conversions? I was thinking about giving Dark Lances/Similar sniper looking weapons to Wildwood Rangers:


Any cool ideas to share?

I was playing with the same idea (especially with the Wildwood Rangers), although I'm hesitant to use Dark Lances or our heavier guns myself so was at a loss for that.

But if I have to contribute model ideas, White Lions have excellent fur bits for converting Rangers up but I don't think they are good as a base model.

Black Ark Corsairs feel a lot like Dark Eldar, but have a stealthy rugged vibe that could be an interesting conversion for Rangers.


Shadow Warriors look fantastic as a base body for the kit as well. It's stealthy, and fits the ranger look.


Personally I'd say Wildwood Rangers or Shadow Warriors would be the best base, especially if you want to do minimal converting. I personally think kitbashing any of them with the Kabalite kit and using splinter rifles as the sniper rifles would work fine.

A lot of local tournament buttholes would scoff at it, but with a well-put bitz that would look like a scope, I'd say they'd pass.

maybe even extending a splinter rifle. I've seen then hacked and shortened for carbines. so why not take an extra bit extend barrel. for a scope i don't know what to use. there is the one on the D lance. Don't know if I would cut it up

I made a halfway-decent plastic ranger long-rifle from an Avenger Shurikat and the barrel of a Dark Lance



Only thing it's missing really is a stock to look like I was imagining.

With Kabalite heads the corsairs would be really nice. Is anyone familiar enough with the kit to know if Kabalite arms and heads would glue on with minimal modification?

Definitely but they're wicked short.

Apologies for bringing up this old thread but, just how much shorter are Wildwood rangers? Also, if anyone has ideas on easy to attach weapons that aren't splinter rifles I'm all ears. Dark lances aren't an option as all extras have been used lately.

In terms of sculpt they are pretty close, they are actually identical to old sculpt wyches and warriors, which gets to what I meant when I said they are wicked short: proportionately their builds are way off. they have very long arms for their bodies and very short legs but the overall package winds up about the same.

Thanks for the post. They aren't to much shorter and I could use some cork on the base to make them stand higher. I'm at lose still for what weapons to give them to represent the sniper rifle. Hexrilfes would be neat but, I do8bt I could find enough for 15
