Chosen of Ynead

Wow. Its been a long time TDC. Well I'm back and stepping my toes back into GW by using some of my old DE models to create a KT. My options were limited but I was able cobble together a 15 member team.

I forgot to take a pic before I began painting so here is the squad partially started.

I'm starting off simple as it has been several years since i picked up a brush. So its just Abaddon black undercoat with She Who Thirsts gray for the flesh tone, Xerxus purple for the armour and Leadbelcher for blades. Later on once Ive gotten them to playable I will work on a more detailed look with different hair colors and other accents

After a weekend at Faire I sat down and got bit more done.

Welcome Back and GL with KT. I havent read the rule book enough yet to play a game, i'm working on it tho.

Thank you. Its good to be back. So far Ive only gotten in the one test game and read over the rules a couple times. Ive also painted more models in the last week than I have in 10 years so there is that. More pics incoming soon. Ive gotten my 4 warriors done as well as my Hekatrix/Succubus (when that comes out) completed. The 3 fighters and 2 gunners are about 75% done, still have to do highlights and detail work. The 4 wychs, Archon, Haemonculus and replacement Hekatrix are about 25% done, just flesh, base color and weapons completed. Even got a couple minor conversions knocked out.

Fluff wise I am thinking about a name change. So far based off model availability and my own idea of aesthetically pleasing the over all look is more wych than kabalite. Once I get the pics up it will be better explained but essentially the whole band is either a wych or a wych in training.

Set up a mini light box in my kitchen to try and get some pics. Ive never been that great at this part lol. Any who, I am getting there. Just the 4 basic Wychs and my HQs to go (so 7 models out of 18).

Last but not least is my Gunners. The left one is converted from an old Wych and an old Scourge.

Interesting colour scheme. And I like the fact that you went with classic basing techniques to match the 3rd ed. models.

One suggestion I would give you is to try some of the GW shades on your models. For your flesh in particular it brings your painting up 2-3 notches with minimal effort. A really good investment.

I would suggest Druchii Violet for the colour you have used. If you then want to highlight once the wash is dried, use Slaanesh Grey.

My DE have always been black and purple armoured as well as the old models. The classic basing just works so well with it IMO.

The skin is She Who Thirsts grey and I tried washing it with the DE Violet on the Kruellagh model. Caused the skin to blend in the with the armour too much. I lightened in back up a lil with some more of the grey but I'm not happy with the color.

Now I did try a black wash on the warrior with the golden mohawk and that isnt too bad.

Ive been busy this week finishing up things and starting on a display board for them. Also added a Haemonculus as a Commander.

Since most of the KT itself is done apart form minor detail work I took some time to finish up their display board.

I added in a webway portal to really give it the feel of a KT out raiding.

Next up is adding static grass and seeing how the team looks with it all done.

Board is all done. I think it came out great.

I have now acquired a fully painted RT Quins KT and the models for a RT Eldar KT should be in the mail by early next week. Lists, pics and revamping the army fluff incoming soon.
