Well, finally its time. We are combining a little BBQ with our beloved Hobby. That means: 1 table, 4 players and some nice junks of meat fresh from the grill. We have Chaos Space Marines, AdMech or Battlesisters, my Drukhari and... something else. Since I am not really a friend of RSR, I go with the usual 3 Patrols. One for each subfaction. Its a nice non-competetive list with exactly 1500pts.
Actually, I believe its too spicy. I think, I geht rid of a Raider and a Venom, to add some Scourges and tinker with some equipment. After all, CSM dont have a 9th dex and its no fun, when my ESE are way too powerful.

CSM suffer from only having a few good option and very restrictive list building since they need to buff the hell out of those units but they can be really really strong. A souped up Terminator bomb is super scary for example it just burns through CP and falls off quickly without strats.

really love this list seems fun all while being strong enough to stand your ground and still have a good game.... But i REALLY love the setup you seems to prepare! I sure hope the weather will be on your side! Have some fun!!! (due to the pandemic, i was supposed to have a game outside with some friends, but the announced weather is rain )

Its Black Legion, Order of the bloody rose and another CSM player. I think, I play it fluffwise. Wait, harass a little, wait a bit longer and then mop up the leftovers. I just hope, they let me. I know, Morvenn is on the table, also Abbadon and a demon prince.
But I refuse to make DG-burger. So no stinkin cheese.

Well, it was a great match, but to be honest, I really messed up. First of all, we lost the first turn. OK, I thought, so what? Time to go out for a smoke. When I came back in, a bloody Helldrake was in the middle of my deployment zone, spitting fire and turning one Raider into tiny pieces. Two Wyches didnt survive that either. Kismet, crap happens. Next: roasted Dragonsteak. Or so I thought. That thing survived the full salvo of my other Raider, including the Trueborn riding it. 2DL and 2Blasters. Oh, they hit, but 5++. My Reavers went a bit forward to shoot a demonprince, acompanied by a hellbrute. They wounded him, but couldnt get a kill. All in all, my shooting phase was not the best, I ever did. Well, if going ballistic dont work, time for melee. Since my Succubus and the Wyches had to disembark, they charged the Helldrake and my Reavers double charged the Prince and Brute. Maybe not my best idea. The Dragon went extinct, but only one of my Reavers survived. But that was enough. Second turn: When you think, it went bad for me, just wait a bit longer. Abbadon and a big group of Terminators deepstriked near the centerfield. I found out, my second Raider, the one carrying my Trueborn, was not as hidden, as I thought. Well, I just say 8 Melta-Shots... Oh, by the way! They had the Mark of Slaneesh. So they didnt only melt my Raider, but my Succubus as well. Did I mention, that the Helldrake flamed my Scourges nice and toasty before he teared my first Raider apart? No? Cant imagine, why... My second turn: Not much left, so time bring my venoms in play. Thanks to our strats, my Incubi and Archon could disembark and charge. 5 Incubi versus 8 Terminators? This is a sure bet. My Archon had a strange feeling and charged Abby. Oh, before that, my remaining Trueborn got rid of the Hellbrute, but I forgot to give my Wracks in the second Venom a Hexrifle and Ossefactor. The Demonprince survived the 6 poisoned shots and my Coven guys couldnt do anything but watch and giggle... Well, back to my bad judgement, charging the center! I messed up the Tormentor roll for my Incubi. That left me with the choice of bad or worse. Incubi vs Termis? Or Archon vs Abby? Which is first? Well, if there is something, Black Legion really can, its having CP en Masse. So, an interrupt was mandatory. I did the logical. Incubi first, since my Archon could, at least theoretically, survive. They slaughtered the 8 Terminators of course. Then the Interrupt came. 2CP spent to let Abbadon attack my Archon. First 4 hits with Drach'nyen. S6 AP-3 D3D... I think, everybody knows, what my first Roll for my Shadowfield was.
Well, my CSM Ally had bad luck as well, fighting the Sisters of the bloody Rose. We messed up, our dice rolls were really horrible, but it was a great game with lots of laughs, just the way it should be. Next time: Sisters of Battle and AdMech versus double Drukhari. Time to bring the cheese!!!

Ouch. People say that DE are the best faction in the game, but they fail to realize how difficult they are to play. Litterally 2 mistakes in a game will swing you from a Win to a Lose. Just got to get in that practice, so you remember all those little abilities/weapons/strats.
Two minor comments. Most Flyers can only be charged by units with Fly keyword. Not sure if the Heldrake has this same rule, but your wyches may not have been able to charge that (although the Reavers can)
Secondly, one of the tricks with the Archon is to use his regular 4+ save to eat wounds and save your Shadowfield. Ideally you dont use your Shadowfield save until you have 1 wound left (or 3 wounds left if your against a weapon that can do 3 damage in a swing). Doesnt help you when you fail the first, but something to keep in mind.

The Helldrake is not a flyer. He only has the fly keyword. We triple checked.
I know those little tricks with the shadowfield. But first I got 4 hits with Drach'nyen, S6 AP-3 D3D. After that, the 'regular' Claw of Horus would have hit me with a lot D2. There wasnt much else to do.

inspired by @Zenotaph i really love the Soulhelm to add some sturdiness to our beloved Archon. Even the Obsidian Rose's relic Armor of Misery can be good to help with the strategy used by @fisheyes

Doesnt need to be OR, the Archon comes with a normal 4+ save, in addition to his 2++ Shadowfield (this was added in our 9th edition codex)
Chaos player brings Thousand Sons, with their teleporting psykic powers. Dreadnaughts teleporting around, Psykic MWs knocking boats out of the sky, Termies DS into random corners and are nearly impossible to dig out.
When be brings the demon allies, thats when you know your REALLY screwed. Horrors are the strongest unit in the game IMHO. Very hard to use, but they win games. I still dont know how to deal with them, 10 CoS Wyches dont even come close to solving that puzzle

And dont forget Mark of Chaos. A blob with 2+/5++ and 2W is bad enough, but when they can shoot their Meltas twice, it really gets ugly. OK, its a strat, but it is very useful.
