Last weekend I was fortunate enough to attend a masterclass with Mathieu Fontaine, the multiple Golden Daemon winner. I'll be going back next weekend for part 2 (we're working on a Helion's board with an airbrush!
) - it'll be my Baron conversion!
Anyway I learned a fair bit, and found I already knew much of the painting theaory, although I wasn't aware that I did - it was just stuff I'd worked out for myself over the last 20 years of painting without thinking about why it was so.
He's a figure the class worked on, the aim was not to finish the figure but to use certain techniques on the cloth, skin and metal.
I learned how to blend properly, although I've not mastered that quite yet, and how to do True Metal Metallics. Lots of good stuff for doing the character models in my army, although I think I'll stuick to my current style for speed.
