1,500 Malys Star

I've finally grown tired of my pure mech Dark Eldar so I'm looking to spice it up a bit. I still have a strong mech element (8 vehicles), but decided to supplement it with a big walking blob of Grotesques.

Has anyone tried an army like this?

I can't speak from firsthand experience, but I know Reecius has experimented with Malys/Grot-stars in a Dark Footdar list:

You may find some of that useful, though mixing the Grots in with Mech may change things. He used the Grots to deliver a WWP. How do you plan on using yours?

I would suggest getting rid of the Haemun and the Wracks and picking up Urien. The Master Haemunculus ability will take your grots up to Str 6, 7 on the charge as you will start out with FNP, FC, and Fearless. That will put you at 1485. The other 15 points to where ever you want, but I would go for shock prows. For a bit of extra hurt when your lances arent cutting it.

I second the suggestion about Urien, especially since you're going 9 grots. You'll be easily able to crush most vehicles with that massive mob, as tons of s7 attacks on charge puts quite a look on your opponent's face.

I assume 9 Grotesques vs. "10 Grotesques, one with Liquifier, one Aberration with wargear" is due to points concerns. I would recommend fitting that upgrade in before Urien (as long as 5th edition wound allocation holds true), but with Urien looking decent after that's taken care of.

I would also go with Urien for the upgraded strength. That jump for STR6 to 7 makes a difference!

Umm....I did read the previous post hence, "I would ALSO go with Urien" meaning I agree with the previous two posts. You are correct the list could have changed but didn't, so I see no point to your contradiction to my post.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It seems like I should test out Urien over the 2 Haemonculi.

I'm a little leery about losing a Venom as 5 seems to be a pretty sweet spot for me.

I simply do not have the points to upgrade the Grotesques at this time, but it's something I'll keep in mind for the future.

With master Haemun on your grots, you can only have 8, which will still put out plenty of hurt.

total for the list will be 1485pts

The other 15pts should either go into a liquifier

OR

Shock Prows on your ravagers (to combat limp lance)

If you don't have the points to upgrade the Grots strength then I personally see no reason to take Urien. I know I previously said take him and I still think you should BUT the only I reason I would bring him is for the +1 STR to Grots .

So either find the points for just go with normal Haemies...just my 2 cents though
