Thats just not fair!

Thought this would be a good place for players to tell stories about games where things were just not fair, I'm talking about those moments where there is no one else to blame but those damned dice. That awkward moment when a single Tau fire warrior brings down your archon or that Gretchen headshots your terminator!

For example: Played a game yesterday with my Marines for the first time. in the 4th turn my 5 assault terminaters with thunderhammers and storm shields deep striked within assault range of my opponants last objective, out of LoS of everything and lining up to take down the 7 imperial guardsmen standing on his objective. When my next turn came I charged the 7 guardsmen. Then things got nasty. 14 lasrifle snapfire shots. 8 hits 6 wounds So it came down to 5 terminaters having to make 6 saves on a 2+, no sweat. 1 passed. 5 ones. give those guardsmen a medal!

Wow. I thought I was unlucky, that's just ridiculous! Although, in every game I've played, my opponents have rolled a surprising amount of ones when trying to save people in Termnator armour or equivalent. I've been unlucky with stuff that I really wanted to kill, but didn't get to, specifically a daemon prince. In five games, I put something like seventeen wounds on it, not killing it in any of them. In fact, after the seventeenth wound, in the same game, my allied friend killed it with a drop pod storm bolter.

In our games we usually end up with some lowly grunt who survives absolutely everything that is thrown at him. Luckiest one I can recall was a Genestealer who survived 2 turns alone against a 5-man Purifier Squad.

Well actually GW dice have a 29% chance of rolling 1s. As soon as I upgraded to casino dice my archons shadow field actually became ridiculous, same goes for his venom blade.

haha I've heard that about the dice! One Genestealer against a 5 man purifier squad???? wow. I think there is an unwritten law that the underdog will pull off something incredible e.g. that storm bolter on the drop pod! I know back in 5th edition I had one blasterborn hold off waves of tyrannids by himself, it litterally was like the last samuri!

However its not always unfair on yourself, sometimes you have to feal for your opponant. Recently I had one lascannon dreadnaught that blew up a punisher tank first turn and then every turn for 6 turns penetrated and blew up a sentinal every turn! And every shot back at him hit but failed to even glance! Felt really bad for my opponant who lost the majority of his vehicles in his 1000 point army to a single dreadnaught!

Think my weirdest string of dice rolls was when I assaulted a venerable dreadnought with my ten strong wych squad with haywires. Ok, nothing strange there, it was wrecked in the first round of combat. The next round they get hit by a vindicator pie-plate, which fails to roll a single one to wound, mushing them all (at which point I cried a little tear, cos they're my only completely painted unit). Following turn? My scourges decide to have a go at revenge, got two haywire blasters in the squad. One misses and the other hits on a 6. The haywire roll? 6, penetrating hit. Vehicle damage? 6, blam! So scourges are my next unit to be painted as a prize!

well, the best was once we were playing 2v2, 2 tau vs 2 eldar. My ally poured immense amont of fire in to the pathfinders in cover, whos dice were on fire - 1 hammerhead on side, a devilfish on front - and before, he didnt use the sui-suit tactic, but after that, he started to run'em. This is why:
i dropped 3 sui-suits - 3*xv8 with tl-flamer and shield - on top of the pathfinders, melted them to a cinder, and after that, they took up an immense amount of the enemy shooting, alowing my stealthsuits and fw to advance. By the time the SS died off, it held a squad of banshees, a squad of scorps and the avatar in cc for 2 rounds. After this, we lit a pipe, for those 3 suits have performed...like the greater good(??)

My most unfortunate unfair time....first turn of the game are game mode was when are two hq's fight in the middle of the board its my archon vs cato sicarius...I go first and he saves all my wounds, he declares he'll forgo his attacks to make the one instant killing attack-riposte I think its called? Anywho I roll for my shadowfield roll a one.......and got very very sad...
