The Shadows of Depravity is a renegade coalition of Kabalites and their co-conspirators who fled the Kabal of the Wraithkind before Supreme Overlord Vect plunged the pleasure city of Aur-Illithain into the half dimension in which it currently resides. The Shadows of Depravity is comprised of the Kabal of the Degenerate Shade, the Shrouded Blade Shrine, and the Unkindness of Debauchery. Together these three have made the Shadows of Depravity into a name to be feared throughout the Ultima Segmentum as one associated with the coming of darkness and the horrors that can only be known once night has fallen.
The Kabal of the Degenerate Shade is lorded over by Archon Traianus Si'Axtae. When he and his companions fled from the Wraithkind Traianus was a young (relatively) Trueborn who was known among his peers as a beguiling snake who nonetheless was able to convince many that his ideas were the only true and proper ones. At the time it was not uncommon for fellow Trueborn-even his Dracon leader- to say that his arrogance was superseded only by that of the Supreme Overlord himself; those thoughts are now wisely no longer uttered. During the scheming of Archon D'raque to seal off Aur-Illithain Traianus, in his arrogance convinced, cajoled, and outright threatened a full attack wing of D'raque's raiding arm to abondon the Archon and join with Traianus; for they would create their own empire under the stars that would one day rise from the darkness and emerge more powerful than their progenitor. With their evil hearts ignited in unrighteous fury Traianus and his new army stabbed out into the webway to find a pocket of darkness from which to plot their ascent. The Degenerate Shade is nearly unique in that due to their small population at their founding the distinctions of True and Half-born have become blurred to the extreme with advancement and success only possible through merit; merit that comes from the end of a poison-tipped gauntlet spike or sadistic cleverness is equal in the eyes of Archon Traianus. Traianus was always fascinated by the terror sown by the winged Scourges and when he was able to pay Traianus enlisted the services of a master Haemonculus to graft him with wings. Thus, another aspect of Traianus's unusual meritocracy is the fact that upon reaching the level of Dracon, Traianus' minions are "gifted" with a set of scourge wings-for what better way to strike horror into the hearts and minds of one's foes than to create the very shadows from which they run?
The other two factions will be expanded upon in further detail later, I just wanted to know what my fellow archon's thought of the Degenerate Shades...
