Re-purposing Eldar?

So just an idea that I had, I've been looking at Eldar as allies and I just recently got a hold on the corsair book. Now what really caught my eye was Hornets. Why you might ask? Because they can spam Str8 shots better than DE can, a hornet with two pulse lasers shooting 4 str 8 shots is only 125 and as it's Eldar it can be Fortuned to be a formidable AA force and they come in squadrons, so an allied force can take 3.

Let me cut to the chase, I want to run 3 hornets with Pulse Lasers as AT and AA, 3 ravagers or 2 and a Razorwing with dissies as AP2 spam and Anti Infantry. Raiders, Reavers and Hwyches giving AT backup, how well do you think this will work?

I envy any man who can afford 3 Hornets! Not sure about pulse lasers though. They are expensive and whilst they have a higher rate of fire, without the lance rule I think I'd prefer the Bright Lance as S8 doesn't cut it against many vehicles.

They look fantastic on paper but 1 platform for 375pts + a Farseer?

Yeah your going to be trashing anything you shoot at with 12 S8 shots with re-rolls but i wouldn't expect anything less for that investment in points :p

You could get 3 units of HW Wyches for that, with venoms, added AI and scoring, win win

I think the pulse lasers are too expensive. I would run them with scatter lasers (a lot of S6 shoots) or Eldar Missile Launchers. The Bright Lance are very expensive.
Basically, Hornets are faster and more expensive warwalkers. If you don't need the speed, take warwalkers, hide them with a farseer in cover and have fun.

I'd go for what we don't have. You can get 3 S8 lances on a 105 Ravager but we don't really have multiple S6 shots.

Allies should bring something different to the table.

I'd be tempted by the scatter lasers. 85 points each for 1-3 fast AV11 skimmers with 8 BS4, S6, AP6 shots every turn? Don't mind if I do!

I'd have to disagree with you on Allies bringing something different, they should cover the weaknesses of your primary army, it just so happens that by taking 3 dissie ravagers that I'm lacking high Str shots and Farseer and GJB added on too.

now I might be biased as there's a lot of Termies in my meta, but I don't know any other army that can have that kind of AP2 firepower that has that kind of range and mobility. However my friend does make 20+ saves on a regular basis for his Termies so I crave the AP2

Having said that I do see the purpose of a DL Ravager, After hearing your thoughts I'd probably switch out 1 Ravager like that

And no I can't afford 3 hornets that'd be awesome, but not as insane as 27 reavers...mush....

I have 3 Hornets, and I run mine with EML. I love the pulse lasers but wouldn't really consider running them unless it was a 2.5k game or apocalypse. The reason being they are pretty fragile and expensive and should the enemy focus fire on them you'd be in big trouble should they go down in the early phases of the game.

That being said with both EML or the Pulse Lasers you can keep them at 48" away at all times and use their speed to access fire lanes.

If you add a Warp Hunter to the mix for close range AT (and as an escort for transports) you are really cooking with fire because you can stretch your long range AT all across the board.
