Hey folks, DE newb here. I'm coming from Orks and (chaos) marines. I've been selling my orks off as i don't play them too fund the next army and i've always had an interest in starting a DE army (even an Eldar army, but that's something for another day). I've always love the look of the Reavers. I've been lurking here for a while, reading up on tactics, army lists, etc etc.

I've been trying to come up with a non beaststar and non venom spam list, here's what i got.

I've been waffling on Ravagers or Void Bombers/Razorwings for HS, but for now i've decided on Ravagers. The archon and haem will go with the Wracks, we do have quite a bit of psychic powers in our meta, i've thought of adding in a Farseer on a jetbike as allies, but i've struggled with trying to fit them in a 1500 point list, so for now i've given the Haem the box.

Any suggestions or incite would be very much appreciated.

I don't claim to be a list-making guru (I'm actually in list-making therapy at the moment) but I have to say it does seem well balanced. A few instances where the choices are not as efficient as they could be (i.e. putting the Archon with wracks because of fleet, not upgrading all Venoms to have splinter cannons, etc.) but you should be able to win some games against other casual players. Overall it seems like a good list, just be very careful your jetbikes don't get anywhere near template weapons. Ever. Good luck! Re-post when you've tried your list out! Very Happy

Whoops, i completely forgot about the upgrade, i thought i did it, lol.

I didn't notice that the wracks didn't have fleet. Need to read better. As he's more of a melee character, i'm wondering if i should drop the wracks and go with incubi with both the archon and haem. Although it leaves me weak on troops, i know it's not as big of a problem in 7th.

Hrm... maybe drop the venom for the trueborn and give them dark lances and have them babysit a back field objective.

Need to think about this.

Will do, i haven't bought anything yet, trying to get my ducks in a row on the cash side of things and then i have to build it all, lol.

Line up your ducks in a row, have some veterans check out your list, and have veterans who don't necessarily play DE tell you how they'd feel going up against this list (besides Tyranids - they're always scared of us). Also eBay, eBay, eBay.

If you switch out the trueborn squad for another ravager you'll get +1 lance and all of them mobile with 12'' movement. Plus you can save 5pts

I'd do a straight swap of that archon for duke sliscus.

You'd only be giving up a slight amount in CC, but in exchange getting 3+ poison upgrades on your warriors, an extra dice roll for combat drugs for your wyches/reavers, free combat drugs on the duke, a better armor save in case your shadow field fails, and the ability to deep strike any of your venoms/raiders. The duke has 1 less attack, but always wounds on a 2+, and ignores armor on a to wound roll of 5+.

I'd start the duke off on foot with the warriors, and turn 1 mount up the warriors in their raider, while the duke splits off to mount up with the incubi. It cuts out a slight amount of mobility in turn 1, but improves your whole army overall. I personally don't even think an archon w/huskblade and shadowfield is even more scary than the duke in CC. Since the duke is getting combat drugs, he may even end up scarier. Either way, the majority of the time, both the archon and the duke are going to kill similar types of units/characters in CC, and get killed by similar units. The primary difference being, one buffs your army too.

Well I redid the list a bit. I never knew the Duke is that freaking good. I missed that he had a shadow field. Thinking on it, the won't lose that much mobility turn 1 if you can place the transports close enough together. I've change the list up a bit and dropped the incubi for grots, and have the Duke and the haem go with them.

I've added a ravager but gave it disintegraters instead. I had to drop the 2nd reaver squad to 3 dudes, although I might do 3 x 3 reaver squads. I still have 17 points to play with and once I get to higher points I can beef up my Troops a bit more. Got a battleforce to start off and now to gather the rest of the crew.

I like this revised list a lot better. I would stick to the 9 lances on the ravagers, you will need the AT so that your grots and reavers can get to the meaty insides.

I agree with skari on this one. Lances on the ravager would be better. However, I'd probably go a completely different direction with it, as follows:

1 - Lowering that reaver squad to 3 makes them likely to be 86 points of dead that possibly awards a VP early on. I'd just drop them altogether.
2 - With the points I gained from dropping the 3 reavers, I'd:
    A. Put splinter racks on my warriors' raider.
    B. Change 1 ravager to either a voidraven bomber or a razorwing jetfighter w/flickerfield.
    C. Put grisly trophies and torment grenade launchers on Every. Single. Transport.

The first time a unit of wyches gets to reroll when they would have run away, it likely pays for every single one of the trophies in your army. And the torment grenade launchers are a good idea on this list, in my opinion, because the majority of your transports will need to get close to deliver their assaultyness. And again, the first time an enemy unit runs off the board because it's Ld was lowered by 1, or gets caught in a sweeping advance, it will pay for every one of the TGLs. By my calculation, these changes will leave you with 6 unspent points in addition you had to any unspent prior to changes.

This also adds the one thing your list currently completely lacks: Anti-Air.

Hmmm thanks for the advice. For anti air i was thinking the 3 ravagers would be able to do it, but thinking on it more and more, probably not. Ok, dropped one ravager and added a razorwing, i'm thinking of swapping a couple of monosythe missiles for necrotoxin, i have 23 spare points, but i can play around and see what could be good for them.

If you're having trouble finding a place for those points i'd suggest a voidraven with shatterfield missiles and ff instead of the razorwing

Yeah i thought about that. I'm holding out for a voidraven model, but i'm assuming that it's ok to use the razorwing model for it.
