Vlka Fenryka - The Volsung

Hi Guys. I have been working on my space wolves recently (and neglecting my DE big time I am afraid). I thought I would post up some of the stuff I have been painting and converting for the army. It is done in a very different style to my DE but I wanted an army that I was able to get to the tabletop pretty quickly, and save the process intensive painting for the dark kin.

The idea behind the paint scheme is to be as simple as possible, using lots of washes to achieve the shading and highlighting, and focusing my painting efforts more on the focal points like the faces.

Anyway here is my take on Murderfang. He is a kitbash between a contemptor dread and the new sw kit. I love him! thoughts and comments welcome

Looks amazing love the kitbash and sculpting done on it, and the paint job only makes it better. Legs seem a bit static compared to the upper, but overall a great paint job and kitbash.

I definitely read those words, so you can imagine my shock when I reached the painted image. Outrageously good looking.

(edit: please could you outline your snow technique? I'm trying to gather as many tips as I can. It's for my Dark Angels so, y'know, extra incentive for you there!)

Hehe cheers. I use gale force nine snow for the bases as the gw stuff is more like static grass. To get the effect I first mix a load of the snow with some pva glue till you get a gloopy slop ( the drier the gloop the more fluffy the snow - more icy then very gloopy). I then dab a bit of pva glue onto the base where I intend to put the snow and then use a spatula type tool to spoon the gloop onto the pva glue spot. Finally I dust the top with the flock to get a layer of virgin snow on the mound. Job done

Thanks for the advice! I like that there's a way to have different qualities of snow, that'll be useful. And (now I'm looking more closely at it) I really like how the rock is painted "wet" as though the snow is melting around the big guy.
