| So, if rumours are to be believed, Scourges will soon be able to bring four haywire blasters in a five strong unit. This is amazing, for various reasons, which I won't go into here - they should be obvious. Games Workshop, as usual, only include one of each weapon in a box of Scourges. So how do you get four, as cost effectively as possible (specifically, without buying four boxes of Scourges, or three more haywire blasters)? Or without patiently waiting for them to come up on ebay? Simple. Got a Talos lying around? If you have, I hope you kept the bits. That twin-linked haywire blaster it comes with will make two regular haywire blasters - all you have to do is carefully slice the barrel off the Scourge heat lance. In case you hadn't noticed, the body of the heat lance is identical to that of the haywire blaster. Slice the barrel of the Talos haywire blaster off, then drill and pin it in place. If you're careful about it, you'll even be able to retain the hand grip on the heat lance. Twin-linked Talos haywire blasters are an easy enough bit to find too. You might think it's easier to just buy haywire blasters. It is. But this is cheaper, and doesn't involve you waiting for them to come up on ebay (for a no doubt soon to be exorbitant fee - let's all stop and remember four blasterborn going for £15). Oh, if you're in the UK, you might struggle to find some of these bits on ebay and Bitz Box right now. Some jerk just grabbed a bunch | |

| Good thinking, I was thinking the same thing part way through your post.
Problem for me is if they're still 24" range I want to use those haywire blasters on the Talos cos, you know, a trio of them will be pretty good at taking out tanks whilst giving us a really solid board presence

| That's true, I prefer heat lances on my Talos though, so I'm ok! I just like to know that if they hit, they'll make a terrible mess of something, as three haywire shots will quite probably leave something like a Land Raider surprised but angry! Well, apart from in one game, where my tiny Scourge squad popped out from behind a hill, hit with one haywire shot, penetrated and blew a Land Raider sky high. Explosion took out a biker, they ran off the table. Termies inside lost a guy and got pinned. BEST. SECOND TURN. EVER. | |

| that sounds awesome!
Must admit i tend to prefer to glance stuff to death, I've tried ravagers with heat lances but i usually miss with two of them and the third fails to penetrate, i tend to take them as dissie platforms instead now.
The shredder barrel isn't too dissimilar either (not a perfect fit, but still...) if I remember correctly, if it's still not a great option theres a resource for conversions there.

| Great idea. I just happen to still have all my bits from two talos. Good news indeed. | |

| This was exactly what I've been thinking. I loved the Scourge models, so already have 10 and have 4 haywires with them, but I'll likely run them in two squads of 5 from now on with 4 blasters a piece.
I saw this post from 3 years ago the other day on Dakka which I think is what I'll try. It might look sleeker with plastic sheet prongs, but I think the conversion there looks more Dark Eldary, should also help to distinguish between squads.

That looks like a handy conversion too, and doesn't rely on spare Talos parts, so is even more cost effective. Always good!

| I like that! The converted one looks to me as though it's just fired, I always imagined the vanes at the end opening up to release the blast somehow. | |
