After two games with new DE I have come up with following list:

I don't have the coven suplement yet, but I looking forwards to some of those formations. deathstars need Fearless alot. Getting it T2 to second unit is almost as good as getting it from the start.

Venoms are still good in big numbers. Yuo need to be prepared to lose a few on T1-2. Reavers are amazing. Yesterday one on 146pts unit destroyed a soulgrinder in CC and held another in combat until the end of game prohibiting it to move against my other models.

Yesterday I tried Ravagers but they almost need quide and doom to work properly. Next test would be Scourges. I have not tried those after I bought the models when the book was new.

I still got 13 points to wargear (or mscalculations)

Any comments?

A pretty workable list actually. Though not sure about the Huskblade. Agonizers may be better, I feel. Arming the Raiders w/ Lances may be a good idea. Considering your rather limited ranged AT. But other than that have no idea how to spend the last 10 points.

Vindicators/Demolishers will want to go for your grots.

Hi,

I am working on a 1500 pts pure DE list as well, yours has a lot of elements to it that I share. Are you planning to deepstrike the Grotesques or start on the board? For the latter I personally prefer back-up raiders in case one gets shot turn 1.

When reading your list I think it lacks of heavy antitank. While jetbikes have been become efficient pointswise, I think they are not enough to do the job. In my opinion reavers will be most effective as a cc unit, capable of destroying light armored vehicles as well. I want my reavers to get into cc and to jink. Adding blasters to a unit that most likely has to jink all the time makes it difficult to utilize on the blasters.

I think an easy way to get some antitank for any armor value are haywire scourges. I would add one squad in exchange for a venom. Also I would delete the blasters on the reavers. This would in sum give you 25 extra points to spend.

You could spend them by replacing the Haemoncolus by a Succubus with glaive and haywire grenades (I generally prefer the succu + grots setup, including Aberration with Agoniser).

Besides, I am very upset about the Archon's new weapon options. Like in other threads discussed I see no way of equipping him to become a strong cc challenger without an AP2 weapon - at least the Succubus has one.

I think the Huskblade is not worth taking because I dont see a target that it is tailored to kill with ap3 str3. On the other hand the shadow field makes him capable of tanking wounds that would instant death kill grotesques, that's something a Succubus cannot do...

The new codex provides difficult trade-offs overall, most of which depend on the current meta.

I post my current list below as it has some similarities to yours. Would appreciate your comments as well Cool .

To keep my troops ObSec Archon got a ride and one of the kabalite squads got left out. I'll keep my Archon (instead Succubus) because T5 2++ is a good way to keep him alive. Husk Blade was a wysiwyg thing, but I'll try agonizer next. Hopefully I get a test game tomorrow.

Value was wrong but calculation was done with right number.

3rd game behind now with new DE book. I used the last list above except that the Archon had husk blade instead of agonizer.

My opponent was a tau list with 1 riptide, 3 missilesides with shadowsun, buffmander, 3 crishissuits and markerdrones, skyray, kroots, fire warriors and ethereal in devilfish. And some other stuff. Mission was emperors will and a maelstrom mission combined with DoW deployment. I got to go first and he couldn't steal even with 5+. I got +1T for reavers and 4+fnp for Grots.

T1 i turboed both raiders to his face. Reavers flew to his side too. Venoms didn't kill any suits with their shooting. All kabalites who were outside of their venom advanced to tau lines. In return i lost both raiders and one grot squad without characters got pinned. The other squad with Archon and haemy didn,t lost a model even though he shot it alot. Improved fnp was a savior. Riptide charged archons squad to protect the other suits nearby.

Next turns my Archon was struck with riptide but the other squad run and wrecked his army. 3 reavers that survived 1st turn killed a lot too. Scourges took of two hull points a turn after they deepstruck in on T2. In the end i won big as he made a mistake in LOS!ing 4 wounds from 1wound buffmander killing test of his chirsis suits and ending his venom hunt.

Armor of Misery combined with haemybooks -1ld is a killer against tau. Early turns i managed to keep close to ethereal so that he couldn't use his ld.

A great game for me and a first victory to my new DE.

I may say second. Blasters on the warriors makes them pretty versatile.  
Makes the grots a little less effective although it should mean you are more likely to get the bonus rampage attacks I guess.
