| So... Looking through the new cards, it looks like they replace 1/3 of the objective grabs. They also leave in the card to cast a psychic power. Thr codex also appears to indicate the DE cards are a requirement and not optional.
That seems to tip the balance closer to the new DE detachment. Objective secured is nice, but with only 12 instead of 18, it doesn't seem like as much of a boon.
Has anyone had test games or evaluated the new cards?

| Couple of threads in the discussion and tactics forum about the new codex that discuss the cards, as well as the Splintermind podcast section on the main forum page. From what I remember mostly neutral-to-positive reactions to the cards. I've played one game with the cards and scored all three of the DE specific ones I drew over the course of the game. Count me as a positive supporter. | |

| Makes sense to leave the psychic power objective in. After all, we're supposed to be running Eldar allies, right? | |

no we are supposed to be a stand alone army not united factions of eldar...., ofc corsair type lists are fun but an army should be able to go on by itself

| I somehow missed the earlier discussion of the cards. The Tactics threads have been a bit busy lately :-)
I've really enjoyed the speed of DE and ability to claim objectives. Use of ObjSec seems a major bonus for that idea, and if there are less objectives I could see moving toward the FA slots more. The new DE objectives seem cool and fluffy. I'm just not as sure on whether ObjSec is as important now. I guess that blends into the discussions on minimum troops.
Thanks for comments! | |

| Lost two games this weekend (Maelstrom #2 each time) due to lack of ObSec. In my ~30 games of 7th, this is a first (and second!).
First game was against full 'pod crimson fists, I made some huge deployment blunders - in that I kept 50% of my army in reserves.... AND gave my opponent 1st game turn... Entire game took place within 12" of my table edge as I was put on the wrong foot & was unable to clear the ObSec drop pods (15, immobile, AV12, OT hullpoints is a lot to strip without haywire wyches...)
Second game was the same mission, had rejiggered my army (LOVE Talos BTW...), played against black templar + imperial knight support.... Opponent seized the initiative & was able to force my entire army to jink (only lost 2 hullpoints!) and errased my (2) new units of scourge from the table. this game swung back & forth a bunch. Opponent was prepared to throw in the towel at the top of Turn 2 since he felt he was out of position & surrounded.... 30 kabilite warriors opened up on a full crusader squad, my archon & incubi escort made the charge.... and flubbed horribly - averaging less than 1 kill per model, even though my Klaivex rolled up 3 bonus Rampage attacks. Chapter master w/ fist + claw put short work to that squad =( This game also took place <12" from my board edge!.
In both cases having ObSec would have really helped out - both times the opponent was able to camp scoring units on objectives and thus deny them from me, this prevented me from being able to draw new mission cards.

I think that might be because you tempted Tzeentch in another thread before that weekend came to pass.

You must have me confused with a different "clever handle" - one who scoffed at the notion ObSec was meaningless last week... I would NEVER be so presumptuous... Oh how the mighty have fallen!

It cuts both ways! I'm now considering the real space raid detachment just so I can field more MSU reavers.
