Lets say I got a RSR detachment with 2 coven formations. (Obviously Dark artisan, also I found out I LOVE the grotesquerie, and the book, and the warlord traits, and the items, anyhow, back on topic.)

Lets say my Archonessa has an animus vitae.

Lets say I take an inquisitorial detachment containing a single Inquisitor.

Desperate allies are technically enemies and can be targeted as such, If I understood correct, which I may have not, and thus could potentially be stupid.

Lets say I deploy my Inquisitor within 7" inch of where I want my Archonessa end her movement. (like behind something in my deployment zone, but not covering the Inquisitor from my archonessa.)

Lets say my archonessa moves within 8" of the inquisitor, and pops a cap in the inquisitors knee with the animus vitae.

3+ and one of my grotesque units (the one with the haemi) get IWND next turn.

Would this work, or have I missed something in the rules? Am I dumb or just dastardly?

I don't think you can intentionally target your own desperate allies.

While non-battle brother allies are considered enemy units/models, you are not allowed to directly target them. This is under the allies section under "Allies of Convenience" and is cited under Desperate Allies.

I LOVE the fluff behind that though.

Me too. An Archon bringing a pathetic imperial Inquisitor to battle in chains, so that he can wrap it in an Animus Vitae (probably hoist it up on a very tall Wall or something), thus demoralising the enemy and boosting his own troops. How very Dark Eldar. Very Happy

I like your style Marco Twisted Evil
Sadly the rules don't allow to take prisoners to combat, only from combat.

I'm betting my group would allow this as I'm paying for the unit from my own army, they don't lose a guy from me DS'ing in with webway on a transport into their lines and doing it anyway, and the fluff is awesome for it Very Happy Love the thought behind this I'm gonna run it by the guys.
