| Heya guys. I live in the good o' USA and I really wanna get some Grotes but GW's site has been "temporary out of stock" for awhile. Does anyone have any other website or possibly stores I can get these guys from. They have to be resin too, non of those weird metal looking ones lol. | |

| Have you considered conversions?
With some Talos bits, you'd be amazed to see how good Rat Ogres or Vargheists can look, and how quickly they can be built, with minimal greenstuff.
Cost savings when doing conversions is also a very big factor to consider. The Grotesque kit costs way too much compared to the other options.

| Thx a lot guys. My conversions are under way, I'll post my completed projects I'm the proper place. Anybody have any ideas or theories on why GW doesn't have these guys fully in stock in the US market. | |

| I am going to be using these guys from Mantic: http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/deadzone/faction-boosters/product/plague-monsters-booster-4-figures.html
With this guy as their Aberration: http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/deadzone/leaders/product/plague-stage-1a-1-figure.html
Of course, my group are pretty lenient on proxies so no-one will mind that they don't have a 'Flesh Gauntlet' and I never arm them with Liquifiers.

| My GW rep said the U.S. site is representative of the U.S. warehouse, so it could be that the stock just hasn't replenished yet.
But I will note that earlier in the year when I started to put together my coven army I was hunting for at least 40 wracks, I was able to get 2 boxes from my local GW but they never re-stocked and were sold out on the website, the rest I had to hunt down on ebay. Sure enough we eventually got the recasts. Not saying the same thing will happen, but these models are in serious need of a plastic kit. $25 USD for the same pose is weak.
Conversions are the way to go though.

| I attended a seminar in 2012 with Phil Kelly and Jes Goodwin talking about developing the Dark Eldar. Jes acknowledged even then (in a sub-text kind of way) that the mono-pose grotesque was something he hated releasing - he's a guy that definitely gets a kick out of cramming as much on a frame as is possible. | |

| The new WHFB Blight Kings look promising for conversions as well. A bit more chaotic than other options but there's definitely some possibilities there - not to mention it's a box of 5 models.

| I know a lot of people won't agree, but yeurgh! Blight Kings are horrible looking models (that's a backhanded compliment to the designer/sculptor I must note, I don't like 'em precisely because they do such a good job of portraying what they are - I hate Nurgle looking stuff).
Conversely I like the semi-clinical approach the DE coven stuff takes, it's kind of emotionally detached and I can't see Haemonculi being particularly keen on stuff that's infected/gloopy (that's the background I'll be doing for my Haemonculus when I get round to it anyway - doing stuff cos he's curious about the response it'll get)
Think I'll also take off the bone shapes, but possibly look to paint the remainder up as if they're steel spikes that have been hammered through the grotesque's skin.

| Yeah the Nurgle stuffI think you'd have to "mend" a little bit. Covens seem all about living flesh that has recently been sutured and should look a little less infected and somewhat "healing" where Nurgle is all about embracing decay. That's why I think the Rat Ogres seem like such a popular choice since they already have the "bandaged" kind of look to them.
This has been my inspiration for mine, http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/429165-Grotesques.html

| Rat ogres are also a popular choice because they can be found for cheap on Ebay, but most importantly, Talos bits are the perfect scale for them.
Many of the pieces hardly require any cutting on filing, thereby making for quick and clean work.
