| Would anyone else agree that night fighting is better now? with the shadowfield now giving stealth i think it just might be. This want me to take another look at running imotekh with my army. That in turn made me wonder.
Do the rerolls from the warlord trait in night fighting work with imotekhs rolls for if each round is night fighting?
I was also curious to if the formation bonus for first round stacks with the stealth given in night fighting?
For those that do not know, imotekh is a necron champ that has a chance that decresses at later rounds to make every round night fighting. he also has a nice lighting bolt that has a chance to hit every enemy unit if it is night fighting.

| Are you really sure you want Imotekh blasting all your units with his lightning? | |

Even when they're allied, they're treated as enemy units that can't be voluntarily targetted by you. Thus, a randomly targetted ability that they use will consider you as an enemy, and react accordingly.

| It does mean that we troll the ever-living Hades (see what I did there?) out of Necron forces that DO include Imotekh though.... | |

But... night fight gives stealth. Night shields give stealth. As far as I am aware two instances of stealth do not stack with each other, so having both is pretty pointless. I would say that night fighting is significantly worse (for us) this edition. The only benefit is for units within 12" that don't have night shields. Since it's usually a first turn only affair I can't see that being relevant often.

| I think that its benefit lies mostly with the Realspace Raiders detatchment's built in cover saves being in effect for every turn with nightfighting. | |

| Personally I think the re-rolls would work due to the way in which the warlord trait is worded. I still woudn't want to ally Imotekh though as the effects of his lightning will be far worse for dark eldar than they are for most other armies. | |

| Well not as risky if you run a reserved based army. that would reduce your targets being hit. Also If it does not ignore cover then my army (which is always mounted) will jink for 3+ saves on the off chance that they roll a 6. Risky still but the risk can be reduced. | |

| I would say that night fighting is significantly worse for us now. Previously there was a chance that it would be on during two turns of the game, and during those turns, substantially affect what could hurt us. Now (unless you take Imotekh, which I really wouldn't do, both for gaming reasons and for fluff purposes) there's a 50% chance it will be on for one turn, and several of the units it would benefit most will not gain any improvement because they've already got stealth (I'm certainly not going to leave night shields off units I'd normally take them on because I might get it for free on the first turn) | |
