After a long hiatus...

Hiya guys. I signed up to this forum many years ago (way back in 2011), posted once to introduce myself and then never posted anything again. Until now at least.

My name's Ciaran and I'm an occasional co-host of a 40k podcast (The Overlords), and I've been a fan of the Dark Eldar since Phil Kelly did his big Codex rewrite in 5th edition. Oddly enough, I was actualky really down on them in the run up to the new dex, but the new models, the interesting rulesets and massive fleshing out of their fluff really changed my mind around!

I don't play 40k anywhere near as much as I used to, but have been dusting of the evil little buggers and have played a few games with them now. I'm still a fan, but I have one big disappointment with the new stuff, and that's the Hellions. They used to be fantastic in 5th, but have been on a downslope ever since 6th and now even I'm having a hard time justifying their use in my armies now. Sad. Ah well, more reavers and scourges to fill in the gaps, I guess!

Anyhow, I look forward to dossing around these servers and talking crap to you all!

Nice to see you're making a return - I too took a bit of a break from DE this year (the perils of re-starting my marine collection from scratch now I'm getting regular games - I now have a mostly painted 1500-2000pt force though so they've hit the back burner for a while).

I was ready to sell my DE depending on how the codex turned out (I actually sold my old codex in Spring after deciding to shelve the army until they got a re-write) but I can't tell you how glad I was when the codex dropped and I read all the new rules.

Hellions is a bit of a bummer I agree, though I never used the Baron under the old codex. Still, I'm looking forward to painting the models and using them in fluffy games.

Look forward to seeing what you have to say around the boards.

I took me awhile to actually get into the swing of building, back around 2011-2012 when I first found WH40k, I started as the Dark Eldar but had no true friends or local meta. Recently my friends have actually gotten into it. Also check out Splintermind a podcast recently started by two of the forum goers.

Welcome back. I am a big fan of you guys and your podcast. One of he best 40k ones around . I am struggling a little with the new dex tbh but I am sure I will come round once I start gaming with them again and working out lists. I love the aesthetics of them and am big into my painting and conversions so will never abandon the dark kin no matter how bad they are in gaming terms (I think they are about middling right now). Look forward to seeing you around the forum sad face too about hellions though too. It is more viable to run 12 beast masters than it is hellions .
