3 Talos/cronos boxes, what to make??

Hey guys!

I've purchased 3 Talos/cronos boxes, I've already made one into a talos.. and was considering making the other two into the same? Does making a cronos really give that much of a boost? (I know the +1 FNP is good but you sacrifice damage output.

Plus I can make a unit of 3 pain engines can't I? I have the Haemonculus covens book. You can make the dark artisans formation with a parasite engine, giving everything in the unit +1 WS and I which I thought was Good, but then if I bought another 2 talos, I could make the corpse thief claw?

What are your opinions?

I am no expert on Dark Eldar in game terms - just offering my opinion.

I'd say either 2 Talo / 1 Chronos or all 3 Talos. The 2/1 just for the option of you know, fielding something different trying out different methods. Its cool to have models that arent all the same. Then again, with the pain engines being a unit by type, 3 Talos sounds like a pretty devistating thing to come against in close combat. The Haemonculus book lets you take a unit of 5 and gives them scout and a few other cool special rules -- if I had the funds I would so do that as it sounds pretty awesome.

Also each Talos/Chronos box comes with tons of bits. Whichever route you go I'd look at the box carefully - I think the main torso is the only bit they really share and if you had purchased just that in bits you could use the other spare parts to make the chronos. Or with all the extra parts and other models you could convert one out of something around I'm sure.

I haven't tried it but the guys at the store I go to talk about magnetizing the options so you can swap out which type of monster it is. I only use the old Talos so I haven't seen what's in the new box.

Why not both? They are really easy to magnetize. Got 3 which are all fully interchangeable

having one as a cronos will let you run the dark artisan formation - which is epic!

Is dark artisan 1 talos + 1 cronos + haemonkulus or can it be 2 talos + 1 cronos + 1 heamonkulus?

I know the artisan seems good. But does it perform decent? 5 talos that can scout seems awesome. Aside from the +1 WS and I what benefit does it give? Would allocation??

With haemonkulus with wwp it let you shock right in the face of your opponent

And they profit from the 4+ fnp of the cronos I asume

At the risk of GW ire, if I recall, all you need is the torso bits from eBay and you can make both with one kit. Just being informative. Otherwise yeah, I'd go 2 taloi and 1 cronos.

2 Talos 1 Chronos for suresies, and definitely look into magnets.

Magnets are the way forward - it really is so simple to do.

The downside to corpsethief claw is that you're dropping at least 600pts into one unit, that can then only target one enemy unit per turn - don't know about you but I wouldn't go near a unit like that if I were playing against it! It will not win the game for you just by shooting alone (unless you're playing relic, in which case your opponent will have a nightmare trying to get it off them!)

I'm currently working on magnetizing my first box, it dies take a bit of forward planning but once you know what's ahead of you it's a piece of cake. I'm using 2mm magnets and drill bit for the while job
