| A mate who plays AM was talking about how he wants to include an assassin in his list, he's not sure which one.
I'd almost forgotten about assassins since they were released recently and it got me thinking maybe I should take one!
Anyone have any exp playing with an assassin allied with the new DE codex?

| its something ive actually been thinking of. i know a couple haemonculi with crucible and at least one culexus assassin would bring the pain to any psyker heavy list. add in the relic helm somewhere, and maybe the relic armor, and you can really mess with an army with lots of psychic guys. | |

| Assassins have very good synergy with every army. Being they're on the bad end of the allies scale to us means that there's very little use from an Eversor but a Culexus or Vindicare is a welcome addition to any list if you have the detachment to burn. | |

| I used a Culexus against a Grey Knight army a while back and it was absolutely amazing. | |

| I've used a vindicare a couple of times since the new dataslate, and on both occasions even though the model itself didn't rip things up, it really made my opponent go after it because of its potential.
In a higher points game (ie: more than 1500) I'd definitely consider it, you can really mess with someone's head by using them.

| The Vindicare has worked poretty damn well for me, but what I have found is that the Callidus is a great choice for three reasons:
1/ Thanks to their deployment, no need to worry about being away from my main force. 2/ THey can tie up a chunk of the enemy army in the first turn, giving me a chance to move everything else into a better position. 3/ I can pretend a Callidus is actually Kheradruakh The Decapitator.

| Heck, a Callidus could even polymorphine herself to LOOK like Kheradruakh... | |

So amazing that he got beaten in his own game by a guardsman...

| I'm trying a Culexus in an upcoming list, and calling him Kheradruakh. I think there is good synergy and the fluff works if you view the assassin(s) as a Mandrake character (not the Vindicare, obviously). Along the lines of what we should have had rules-wise, perhaps. | |

| If GW do an advent calendar again this year it wouldn't surprise me to see characters like that pop up as dataslates, like they did with Be'Lakor, although he did have a model at least I guess? | |

| Be'Lakor had a model & it is the best Daemon Prince GW has ever produced.... I just pulled my old one out & am pinning him together along with some infinity stuff.
@Klaivex Charondyr: Calling Mkoll "a guardsman" is liking calling Vect "a kabalite" or Lelith "a wych." Don't forget he massacred dozens of guardsmen single-handed... lets compare that to what'll happen when an "in game" mandarke charges a squad of guardsmen? He charges through terrain, doesn't have grenades thus strikes at I1, they massacre him.

Everyone has a name. Everyone has a story. He might be better than the average Guardsman (the Ghosts are no superheroes after all) but he is nowhere the level any of the named special characters is. Im not "mad" about Mkoll killing him. Not even that he did it in melee. I hate th fact that Mkoll was way better in hiding than him. Also the Mandrake was one of the best Assassines the Heretics could afford/muster.

| I'm liking the idea of a Mandrake representing a Callidus! XD Does anyone have any ideas on how to capitalize on that from a modelling standpoint short of just using a single mandrake model? Is there a 3rd party model that might match or perhaps making use of other bits such as parts of the Doomfire Warlocks from the fantasy range? | |

| I thought they released the Be'lakor model with the Dataslate? At least that was my impression when I picked him up. Or maybe they re-released an old model?
Regardless, between this thread and my SM/DA buddy talking about picking up an assassin or two, I'm now totally going to have to build Kheradruakh. Culexus and/or Callidus.
Modeling-wise, just going to try add extra arms to a mandrake, give him a different paint job from the rest. Done and done.

@Laughingcarp: There was no NEW sculpt. I guess they MAY have released a finecast model? ...I have an old pewter one I never put together.

Which is an absolute rare and deadly foe. Its amazing that they could even find a chaos dread. Still no reason for a Guardsman with physical limitations to be WAY better at stealth than a creature that can literally TURN into a shadow.

| 2 questions...
1. As DE have AI pretty much covered. Which assassin is best for AT (in shooting or CC) in your opinion?
2. Which assassin is best for running around in your opponents backfield wrecking havoc and drawing attention in your opinion?

| 1) Vindicare as he gets his turbo-penetrator round, which he can use each turn. None of the other assassins have anything fancy for tank busting if I remember correctly. 2) tie up between Callidus & Eversor. If you have a delivery system for the Eversor that is, else definitely the Callidus. Both will typically show up, kill something if they're lucky.... and then get horribly, horribly killed. | |

| I think the great value of the Callidus is the rules which add +3 at enemy reserves in second turn! She, alone, can really break the entire game of the enemy.
Profile, skills, are a simple add, imhol

| Pretty sure that modifier is only for one enemy unit though. And it gets chosen by the opponent. If they only have one flyer, sure. A Pod list or armies with multiple reserves don't really get impacted.
