| Hi everyone, I'm playing around with a list and was wondering how effective (or not) it would be. I don't want a WAAC list, but I want something that is playable. In other words, my aim is to have something fun that has the units I like, but capable of winning some games. I haven't decided on a clone or shadowfield, so I haven't put that in the list yet. The HQ, incubi, and trueborn will be in the venoms while the warriors will be in raiders. The sybarite is for leadership, but I'm not sure if that extra point in LD is worth it. I want to keep the voidraven on anti-infantry duty with the templates. I'm pretty much set on the types of units I have picked, but I may swap out the archon and court for a succubus and bloodbrides just for fun. I'll probably do different court combinations as well. If I were to use a haemonculus, what should I stick him in? Incubi? Warriors?
HQ archon with huskblade or agonizer 85 points
court with x3 sslyth and 1 medusae 100 points
troops 10 warriors with sybarite and splintercannon 105
10 warriors with sybarite and splintercannon 105
elites 5 incubi with klaivex 110 points
5 trueborn with 2 blasters and 1 heatleance 80 points
fast attack/dedicated transports raider with dark lance, splinter racks, nightshields 90 points
raider with dark lance, splinter racks, night shields 90 points
venom with splinter cannon 65 points
venom with splinter cannon 65 points
venom with splinter cannon 65 points
6 reavers with 2 heatlances 2 caltrops 146 points
razorwing jetfighter with dark lances and night shields 155 points
heavy support
voidraven bomber with dark scythes and night shields 175 points
the total should be around 1500
Thanks in advance. | |

| You probably just left people unsure what to say when you state desire of competitiveness but with the units you want - at that stage basically isn't whatever the army list now what you want to do anyway? I'm not sure what type of advice to offer when that's the request.
I would say Incubi benefit more from a Haem than Warriors.

| Fair enough. I guess what I meant was: Here is a list that I am interested in; how do you think it will fare, in general? | |

| I think it will fare poorly. The court and the incubi are pretty bad, the trueborn are illegal and mispriced and half their potential is wasted.
Give the true born max blasters and trade the incubi for grotesques and you'll have a much more solid list.

10 warriors with sybarite and splintercannon 105 I see little value to the sybarite - do you really need the +1 Ld that badly? Easy saved points towards some protection for your Archon methinks. - brojob wrote:

5 incubi with klaivex 110 points I don't like how you split up your dedicated transports from the units buying them. - brojob wrote:
- 5 trueborn with 2 blasters and 1 heatleance
80 points Illegal loadout here - double check the '1' annotation on the wargear page - it's important. - brojob wrote:
- 6 reavers with 2 heatlances 2 caltrops
146 points Okay - though the lances are gimped if you jink, and you'll probably be jinking. I'd probably drop them for saved points. - brojob wrote:
- razorwing jetfighter with dark lances and night shields
155 points Fine. - brojob wrote:
- heavy support
voidraven bomber with dark scythes and night shields 175 points Why scythes over void lances? Really their only exciting use is against Terminator clumps - they're a pretty iffy weapon. I'd either save points and take another Razorwing for better functionality, or just stick with the void lances. Those are kind of the point of the Voidraven. I think the list will do okay in friendly play. Avoid tournaments unless just for fun.

| Hi, thanks for the comments and advice.
My rationale for d-sycthes on the voidraven was so that it could have more anti-infantry firepower, wheras the razorwing would fulfill more of an anti-armor role. Sure, I could load up on missiles for the voidraven, but then it will get expensive fast.
I will definitely drop the sybarites, I just didn't know if they are worth the LD or not.
I forgot to add some kind of invulnerable save to the archon, I will do that.
I think I will by a box of warriors and use 5 of them for blaster trueborn and 5 for shredder trueborn (lol), and swap them out accordingly.
I think my biggest concern is if I have enough anti-armor: 2 lances on the raiders, the razorwing, and the reavers. I should probably use blasterborn.
What is the consensus on the voidraven with the new codex? Is it overpriced and too fragile?

The fighter already comes with missiles against infantry and you can equipped him with dissis and a splinter cannon for maxed out AI. The the Bomber can go hunting Tanks with his superior lances. - brojob wrote:

You could take some grisly trophies on one of your vehicles but I'm not sure if it's worth the points. - brojob wrote:

How many blaster you take is a good question but I think that Max is the preferred amount. Shredder born on the other hand fall under the rule of cool

| I agree with the above - the fighter has always been better anti-infantry than the bomber...don't ask why, it was always designed that way - go figure.
I also would note my own opinion that the Voidraven is a poorly priced unit - they make you pay too much for something so fragile with questionable firepower. I think the Razorwing is a great flyer, I will never own a Voidraven until the rules change. I use the Razorwing both as anti infantry and anti flyer support.
