| Maybe if they sold all their remaining failcast grots, they plan to make us a Christmas gift with plastic grotesques If so I'll buy 2-3 boxes without hesitation! | |

| There's all kinds of them available on EBay, as usual. There are about half a dozen Dreamblade minis that make good Grots. You could also use Rat Ogres (or Ogre Kingdom ogres) with masks from the Talos Kit. Add some guitar wire for cables and hoses, and you're good to go. | |

| Only time will tell. But I think multi-part plastic Grotesques, along with Incubi, have a good chance of being amongst the next batch of DE miniatures, whenever that will be released. On the other hand, GW never re-released those plastic Deathkoptaz... This company is weird. | |

| It just seems to be another sign of the minimum effort approach they take to DE. Sure, the plastic wracks, archon and succubus are nice, but they all had good models already. If they had put some thought into it they could have seen that Grots are crying out for a multi-part plastic kit. Especially with covens being the focus of this new release. Meanwhile, I am quite content to convert mine out of other kits. Until I almost got thrown out of a Games Night at my local GW - apparently you are not allowed to use other companies' minis in a GW store, even when GW don't provide you with a decent alternative I did point out that my warspear Grots are at least 30% GW Talos parts, so I should be allowed to field them (or at least, 1/3 of them). It didn't really matter though, because they didn't notice them until I was packing up after my game. | |

Minimum effort indeed. The Wracks are pretty much the same as they were in Finecast. The Succubus got a more dynamic pose, but still the same overall look as the previous one. Clearly some creativity went into the Archon, but not necesserily in a good way. His "Jolly Roger" pose is taking the space pirate theme a little too far. And don't get me started on the Haemonculus... - Plastikente wrote:

I'm currently not thinking about adding Grotesques to my army, but as a Chaos player, I would say that Chaos Spawn would make for the easiest conversions. Spare Talos bits fit nicely into their little sockets. Fitting masked heads on them is tricky, but you could just use the round maws instead.

| Honestly, I'd suggest just converting them from something (Crypt Horrors, Rat Ogres, Ogryn Warspears or somesuch). Really, anything is better than the break-dancing bigfoot GW sells. - Plastikente wrote:

Or, you know, they could have made models for our SCs - rather than just removing them.

| I like the GW model better than any of the typically done conversions because none of the conversions are wearing corsets.
Given the available options, I would buy several of the finecast model, hack them up, and reposition them with plenty of greenstuff. I'm hoping that if I stall long enough, GW will eventually release plastic grotesques and save me a ton of work. I am also hoping someone will stop by my apartment and give me giant bags of money because they like the cut of my jib.

| Corsets you say? Have a gander at Everblight Warspears. Not corsets as such but the leg coverings are very very dark eldar! | |

I'm attempting conversions of these right now. On the off-chance it's useful to anyone, one problem I had was that I didn't have enough masks (using the ones from the talos kit), and that some of the Ogryn heads were a bit big to bit them over. So, I removed those heads and replaced them with the Cluster Caltrop 'pods' from the Reaver Jetbike kits. They closely resemble the talos masks in both shape and with the holes in them.

I see your problem - you don't own enough Talos...

| I do think that Warspears are wearing corsets... or something similar. On the Plus Side: Converting them was extremely easy with next to no sculpting involved. | |
