| A friend of mine bought me Drazhar for christmas and im trying to figure out the best uses for him.
So weve had threads on why you wouldnt take drazhar now lets get one going on how to make use of him. Best "deathstar" ive found for him is 8 incubi a succubus with archite glaive and wwp in a raider with nightshields. i havent seen many people come up with ways to use him other tan a distraction or dropping him next to enemys.
Im off to bed i await your responses ad hope to have this guy kicking a** efficiently.
Have a very edgy christmas and a dastardly new year

| Its a shame he didnt stay how he was I just got the codex for Christmas after giving up on my 4th ed *cough 2ed cough* army and The Master of Blades was fantastic back then. He could tear apart whole squads, from Gray Knight Terminators to any Tyranid you can name AND he could jump infront of bullets aimed at your leader. But then running a squad of Incubi as a Retinue was also a given because Incubi with Punisher Helms and their glaives were awesome too. Now most people seem to use Incubi as "take and hold" squads. Rush them into an objective area before the enemy gets there, hide and spring out when they get close enough for CQC. But Drazhar benefits large squads of Incubi (well, any squad, but it seems to waste his +1 WS to all if you play him with a small unit). So you wont be seeing 4 Incubi and Drazhar on a Venom. What would I do? Id go old school. 8 Incubi, Klaivex (the only troop unit upgrade in the new codex I can see worth taking, at +1A, +1I, +1WS and BS) and the Master of Blades himself on a Raider and use it as a shock troop squad. Pick an important or annoying enemy squad and drop your CQC team right in the heart of them. Yeah, they are gunna die, but they might be able to take out a strategic group or 2 before they do. Meanwhile the enemy is panicking and ignoring your main army which melts their heavy armour and moves in with regular troops. And thats the point. He isnt a hit and run character. None of the Incubi are. They dont suit our play style. They were great as body guards but now they are at odds. So dont play them as such. Dump them in a full on assault and sacrifice them while you get better positions for your other troops. You enemy probably wont use blast weapons to get rid of them and there isnt much that can face up to that in CQC. But you are expecting to loose them anyway, so get your void raven in a good position and as they are about to die, bomb them. Hopefully they have taken out a unit or 2, maybe an HQ, and weakened a couple more, then just when he thinks he is in the clear, your suicide squad, and his brave fighters, implode. | |

| Thanks for the input any and all is appreciated I can dig the klavex upgrade but i cant take them without a succubus my friends and opponents know how easy it is to screw my initiative by hiding in cover that 90 point (minimum) assault grenade tax is a necessity if they dont strike first its not worth it. | |

| Even with a Succubus, the Incubi won't be striking at initiative if changing through cover since assault grenades work on a per model basis. This is why they were typically paired with an Archon using a PGL last codex. | |

My mind is reeling im angry now, the way id want to play them is moot it cant work THE ASSAULTS IN OUR ARMY CANNOT DO THEIR JOBS . WHAT IS THE POINT. our shooting is not as powerful if enemy spams weak units, if our assaults need cover from terrain they cant assault without taking casualty. Reavers, Scourges and transports are the only thing that can do their job. Im sorry for the rant but this just turned everything i enjoyed about this army upside down for me. i didnt like the 7th update but i thought it was managable but now all the things i liked are gone. The support commander that Helped our warriors (or trueborn) be more effective while giving a reroll to assalty units who needed it. The beast packs being huge and the razorwings having ws 4, PGL's so our ASSAULT GUYS COULD ASSAULT OUT OF OR INTO COVER. hellions being a wave of wounds and having the cool snatch attack. I am really sorry for the rant but this was the straw. I LOVE the dark eldar lore but on the battlefield they cant do what i want anymore. im going to try to find some tactics i find fun but this hurts this changes EVERYTHING for me,

| Drazhar, 8 Incubi, and an Archon with Agonizer and Armour of Misery, riding on raider with enhanced aethersails.
That way, maybe, just maybe, the Archon will cause the enemy to need 5s to hit, and kill off a handful of enemies since he'll still strike at initiative.

| I use Incubi (and by extension Drazhar) as "bully" units. Use them to beat up units that can't really fight back. (There's lots.) Incubi are like the galaxy's exterminators whenever you have a power armor infestation. | |

| Thanks for the tips it just irks me that my initiative means nothing to a smart enemy (with no way to pay for a way around it) | |
