Advice for a paint scheme

I'm planning on picking up my dark eldar again. But I want to completely start over with a new paint scheme. This time I want to go with silver as a primary color with a pale bronze as a secondary (anywhere that's gold on the studio scheme) and very dark gray for cloth, weapons, and underarmor. My old scheme was very clean (no blood or battle damage), so I want to have lots of blood splatters. I'm thinking of getting some zombie bits to put on the numerous spikes on the vehicles as rotting trophies, with blood leaking out and pooling on the floor of course. So all this blood would sort of be an accent color, but I can't decide on a main accent color: gems, glowing stuff, etc. I was considering a light blue, but I'm worried a scheme with all cold colors will look a bit bland. I also considered a neon green, but I'm worried it would be too bright with the silver and might give them a Christmas look with all the blood. So what do you guys think a good accent color for th is scheme would be? Other comments and suggestions for the scheme are appreciated too.

Side note: I can't paint faces at all. So I was going to give all my wyches, hellions, and reavers the eva helmets from the wych kit, reaver kit, and the venom and Razorwing pilots. Problem is, every bits seller I've checked is out of stock. Does anyone know of any sites that have them in stock? If I can't find them anywhere, I may just go with scourge helmets instead as they seem to be in stock almost everywhere.

Green was the colour that immediately sprang to mind, though I get the concern you have about that. Orange might work, it connects well enough to reflect the red and bronze elements whilst you can make it bright enough to be different.

No idea on the helmets I'm afraid, I've got a stash myself but I'm keeping them for when I get round to doing trueborn. On the other hand, I think scourge heads would look awesome on a whole army!

Hmm, If I had the time I would love to repaint my army! But, from the other ones I'm doing up, and what crops up on some lovely armies is spot colours. Take a look at a colour wheel and find something drastically different to show off your miniatures. Iyanden with yellow and blue, the orange/yellow on Salamanders, the burgundy beret on new storm troopers SAS style, necrons gauss weapons, tyrannid carapaces' and flesh. Contrast makes models stand out and look better from a table top perspective even if your not a brilliant painter!

Silver can be tricky, I saw a fantastic grey knight army which you could take inspiration from. Took the guy no time and looked incredible. He based them black, then took a silver airbrush, held it over the very top of the model and sprayed once, with leadbelcher to cover most of it, then from directly above the model sprayed mithril silver. Looked like proper plate armour. Other colours he used after was red on the guns and a sky blue on the shoulder pads etc. Looked unbelievable (plus the gold). That might work for you perhaps.

As for faces, the quickest and most effective way I saw was to mix a little white with some nowmal fleshy colour, apply a devlan mud wash (or whatever the new one is called now), wait for it to dry, then dry brush white over the top. Nice and pale, looks great on the table and is pretty easy for the result you get!

Agrax Earthshade.

Though I find Cadian Fleshtone better for normal faces.

My recipe for Dark Eldar skin though is Rakarth Flesh, Druchii Violet wash then highlight with rakarth flesh then pallid wych flesh.

Eyes just take practice I'm afraid, though the best piece of advice I've ever read on them is to not leave too much white - that's what makes most painted eyes look crazy.

My friend came up with a novel idea for eyes. He's not the best painter in the world but this actually worked although it takes a steady hand. He painted the "eye area" white then  used a needle ir a pin to poke a small divot where he wanted the eye pupil to be. Once he had the depression (very small, not a massive hole I might add!) he then dipped the tip of the pin in black, put it in the hole and hey presto.

This guy is quite a good modeller though so I would certainly consider testing and practising this before committing though as it can be fiddelly!

If your gonna go with a metallic paint scheme make sure you check out Testors... they've got tons of great metallic primers that GW paints go over like magic. I rock the dark gold myself.

As for faces... I black out the eye and then just paint a white dot in there then another black dot inside. Some times I don't even have to add the black dot just because of the way the first white dot went in.

As for bits sellers. Horde o Bits on ebay, a bitsworld are my go to source. They've got DE helmets for sure I saw em just a few days ago.

@The Buring Eye: Actually orange sounds like a great idea. It would even give them a shared color with my yme-loc eldar.
@Cavalier: Would these be the testors sprays you're talking about? www . testors . com/ product-catalog/ testors-brands/ testors/ lacquer-paint/ lacquer-sprays (sorry about butchering the url, it wont let me post links or anything resembling a text url). I had considered using the army painter metallic spray, but I'm guessing testors would be a lot cheaper.

Yeah testors is a lot cheaper and its very nice. Its a super thin coat so you can do layers of painting o top of it without things getting blobbby. I'm pretty sure the GW bronze range will match up perfectly with their golds. I use Sycorax Bronze as touch-up paint for their Dark Gold. It couldn't be any closer;

Also i don't see any gold or bronze metallic primer for Army Painter... Unless you planned on priming em' silver and then putting Sepia/Reikland flesh washes over it to turn it gold-ish.

Anyway continue to update us with questions and ideas... I know how daunting it can be when taking the plunge on new primer!
