| Hello again guys! I'm coming back after few months without playing 40k.
First of all, sorry again for my english, still im trying to learning, so sorry for my bad grammar and the kicks to the dictionary! xD
On topic, im trying to play competitive again with Dark Eldar. But I have a problem with that: I don't want to use vehicles. Well, I don't want to use Venoms/Raiders Spam. In six edition, I played with BeastStar without venom/raiders/serpent and i was fine.
Now with the new codex, i'm feeling lost because there are so many options and i dont know how i can play with my own style and do it good against the actual meta (serpent spam, knights, bikes, etc...).
So, I need some advices to make DarkFootdar competitive again.
I think Reavers, Scourges, WWP and grots are very good, but we need allies for sure. Eldars do it very well as allies, but im thinking about Tau o maybe the new Necrons for more shots and some really good combat unit.
Maybe 3 or 4 units of small reavers and a pair of razorwing, new "wraithStar" with some flyes and something for kill knights and serpent. But as i said, im lost right now and i dont know what to do.
Some advices?
PD: Sorry for my English again.

| ( Here was ranting about footslogging DE and all i think about it. Decided to spare the world from it)
If you'd still want to do that i'd start Scalper Squadron and big squads of Kabalites with WWP HQs. Yeah, its not completely footslogging, but whatever. Main idea is - you wont have to start your squishies on board, cause they are useless that way.
Then Reavers, Dark Artisans, Scourges, Razorwings - chose between them. Maybe this crazy 5 Talos Formation.

| If it were me, I'd try Cronos pain engines to increase the survivability of my large infantry squads, and then bring sacrificial packs of Khymerae to draw fire, speed bump enemy units, and generally get in the way. | |

| i think it can work with some reavers, scorges, using the talos and cronos to add toughtness, for trops i thing you can keep 2 venons (remember today the only army that dont use tank is tyranid because they dont have) but if you dont want any tanks you can take an aegis with quadgun for aa with big bloob of kabalites. some mandrakes to put the enemy with some to deal close to them an make your talos charges easily and put some good hq like sucubus on raider or wwp for charge later in the game.

| Personally, I don't think you've chosen a good edition to not use transports... or a good army no not use transports with. Anyway, I'm thinking some coven stuff might be useful for this sort of army (since they at least tend to be more durable). Maybe Dark Artisan - which is very tough and can also deploy via WWP? Reavers and Scourges are both good at the moment. Honestly though, I really don't know what else I'd put in a DE footslogging list. We just don't seem like an army that's designed to footslog - in terms of our toughness, weapons etc. - Azdrubael wrote:

| Hello Again;
The think is, i played DE before in 5th edition with WWP and I loved it. I didnt use vehicles because i hate venomspam or raiderspam. I just hate that list and I find the WWP, and like i said, I loved play with them.
Now, in 7th edition, I know its difficult to play like 5th edition but I want to try something different. Still I hate VenomSpam and I dont want to use that. I think its possible play successfully with Foot Dark Eldar, but is most difficult than VenomSpam.
Still I dont know what is the Key to play with good results Footdar, but I'm thinking about several ideas:
First off all, I usually play with ETC Rules, so I'll play Maelstrom and Eternal War missions at the same time. For that reason, I need movility units and volumen of fire to destroy enemy threats. I know Dark Eldar isn't the best army to play without vehicles, but I'll try it. So my first idea of army is like that:
Archon with WWP. Spiritseers from Iyanden Book. Some units of Reavers to take Maelstrom Points. WraithGuard with Cannon. Maybe some Razorwing to AA and good AI. Units of Talos to control mid table. Blob of Warrior and Karandras to monster hunter or maybe some other Stuff.
I think Eldar is a really good option to ally with Dark Eldar, but in six edition I thought another allies was very good for Dark Eldar and now I'm sure another armys is VERY GOOD to alliances. Maybe Space Marine Drop Pods. Now we get OS and they can't be ignored. New Necrons. Flyers and good shoots and CC. Tau for very good shots and control the table. Imperial Knights maybe is a good option too.
Now there are so many options that I just Can't say all of them.
Im just saying some ideas to make a competitive army.
When I make a first Army list, I will tell you.
What do you think? | |
