1K and 1850. New to 7th

Starting up again after a long 2 year hiatus of not playing any real wargames. But I'm starting to get back into it with a friend. I played a lot in 5th and 6th but none of 7th and haven't built lists with the new Dex. And since I used to run near exclusive Wych cults I'm starting over till (hopefully) GW pulls their head out of their ass with that one. It was actually the Splintermind podcast that got me back to thinking I could come back and be viable with DE again. So the 1850 is gonna be my more competitive list and the 1k is for fun.

I'm trying to stick with the models I have to force my self to paint the rest. I have alot of everything minus the Haemonculus themed stuff. I have a couple Razorwings. Lots of Venoms and Raider/Ravagers, Reavers. So I'm gonna keep it MSU ish.

Pretty straight forward, loaded up on all the obvious choices. and tried to optimize as much as possible. Reavers and Grots to get in their face while warriors can zip for objectives and lay down Splinter fire. Hang on long enough for Reserves to come in and wipe face. Fast, Straight forward.

If I messed anything up rules wise or you see anything that can be done better lemme know.

It never fails! I have yet to see one army list post where the OP doesn't summarize his tactic. And it always consists of "so these guys can wipe face" ," so these dudes can destroy everything" or  "these guys get to hold objectives while these ovah heya destroy everything ovah heya". It literally reminds me of the South Park that makes fun of Michael Bay, when he's waving his hands in the air making explosion sounds while describing his next movie. I think it's funny I guess because we all know what peoples list is going to do, but yet they still got to give us their vivid visuals. Hehe.


The lists are great. I really like the fear that 3 flyers will instill in your enemy. Let us know how they work out! Personally I don't run my archon with a blaster, but it might be something I'll try in the future.

I ran a list similar to your 1000 pt list. I assaulted with my Llamaean and overwatch killed a few, making their assault less effective. The one thing I would change, havnt tried it yet though, is adding one Ssylth and keeping him in front to absorbe the overwatch, being the closest model to the incoming fire.

Yea, I always tend to do that when I post a list. lol. @Naria Thats a good idea, I'm definitely gonna have to give it a try. I have a 1k game setup tomorrow against some Space Marines, I'll update how it goes.

So I got to put the Llamaeans to use today, ended up taking 7 with a Sslyth and gave the Archon a Soul Trap and a Agon. It went well, I got them into assault turn 3 against 4 Scouts, killed them in one round, soaked up some shooting with ruins and FNP, and killed 2 assaulting marines then consolidated and killed a squad of 4 Tactical marines. DEFINITELY have to keep them in cover when not in a vehicle or fighting. And if I was running them in a bigger list I would probably run 2 Sslyths to be safe. But once in combat they are super killy. I haven't tried them against bigger squads. That will be next.
