| I do like #2, and was very impressed by the vehicle (wow!). Also, both of the converted Solitaires were amazing looking. That Haem style one is *sick* and the one with the new mask has some cool holo-line work. But for a cohesive model that shows some cool stuff I could never do, I had to go #4. That thing has beautiful colors, and some really slick line work to it. I'll admit that maybe the vehicle is actually technically more impressive (who the hell am I to know for sure) but #4 made me go 'I want it!' the most, it just looks awesome. | |

| On a few of them, particularly 1 & 3, that I wish the pictures were clearer. There's stuff going on there - 1's coat and hood, and both of their masks, that I'd like a better look at. Its unavoidable, but photography skills definitely become a rate limiting factor in this sort of thing. | |

| I love the darker aspect of number 3, and the holofield effect is simple but really effective. But the legs let it down compared to 4. Also highly commending 7 for overall awesome model, but I guess this is just a painting contest... | |

| I like Solitaire 4 and voidweaver. After some thoughts, give my vote for weaver. | |

| I'm surprised 7 hasn't gotten more votes. The shading is solid throughout, I like the use of contrasting and complementary colors, there was a clear decision made for every part of the model, and the base is fantastic. I've abstained from voting because one of the entries is mine; were that not the case, I'd have voted for 7. | |

| Here are the final results and the contestants' behind each entry: Contestant #1 [Sinisterjon]– Solitaire Contestant #2 [Its_Rumble] – Solitaire Contestant #3 [The Burning Eye] – Solitaire **2nd placeContestant #4 [Calyptra] – Solitaire **1st placeContestant #5 [BlackDeath] – Voidweaver **3rd placeContestant #6a [Klaivex Charondyr] – Shadowseer Contestant #6b [Klaivex Charondyr] – Deathjester Contestant #7 [Spellcheck2001] – Solitaire This was a great competition, with excellent work done by everyone. Thank you all for entering, there are some fantastic paint jobs here, as well as some very nice conversion work. BlackDeath's scheme on his Voidweaver is every bit as imaginative as his Razorwing and Void Raven, and not what you would typically expect for Harlies. Spellcheck2001 added some Haemie appendages to his Solitaire to give it a decidedly DE edge, while The Burning Eye incorporated "a little twist on the diamond scheme, [the cross-hatching] is meant to represent where the domino field is being impacted by incoming fire, as the energy field fizzes into life it reveals the diamond pattern." Very creative. In spite of all this, Calyptra has swept the field with 39 votes, or 67% of the total. An amazing feat, given the quality of the rest of the field. Calyptra's fine line work is one of the more obvious features of his beautiful work. So, congratulations Calyptra We will be in touch regarding your just desserts! | |

| Congratulations to everyone, but especially to Calyptra, I'd be gutted if it weren't for the fact that I voted for you as well!
And well done on 'hiding' the artist - I think the only one I recognised by style was Spellcheck's, as it's so distinctively different to everyone else's.
Next time... | |

| Thanks everyone!
I love painting competitions like this partly because I get to see what everyone else came up with and partly because they give me a reason to really push what I'm capable of with my models. In this case I ended up spending a week studying art nouveau to base the freehand on the coat on. I filled three pages of sketches, came up with a design I liked, and then ended up having to drastically simplify it when I realized it wouldn't look good scaled down to fit on the model. So I did a lot of work that didn't make it onto the end product, but I don't mind, because I learned so much doing it.
I should really start a plog here... | |

| The work and research you put in has really shown in the model. It is full of depth and character, and the skill involved with the freehand and also in the general painting of the model is brilliant. A truly deserved winning entry I would love to see you start a project log here. I think I would enjoy reading/viewing it very much SC | |
