Hey guys, so my gaming group is starting a campaign and I'm looking for some advice on a 1000 point list. The campaign starts at 1000 but each consecutive game is higher. I haven't played many games at this point level so I've come up with two lists and I'm hoping to get some CC from y'all!.. For the most part there are not many restrictions. No special characters can be used as the campaign focused around your own leader (mine is archon Draz Ul'! Very Happy) other than that army selection is normal.

List one: coven

HQ: 125pts
Archon
Agonizer
Shadow field

Elite:165
X3 Grotesque
Raider, Sails

Troops: 295pts
X3 units of 5 warriors with a blaster in each
X3 venoms with cannons

coven formation: 355
dark artisan
Haemonclus, webway portal
Talos - twinlinked heatlance
Cronos, spirit probe (the +1 fnp one)

940pts total.. Not sure what to do with the other 60 pts. Upgrades maybe?

List two: MSU

HQ: 175pts
Archon, WWP, shadow field, agonizer, blaster

Elites: 115pta
True born - x4 blasters

Troops: 672pts
8 warriors
Raider, shields, racks dark lance
7 warriors
Raider, shields, racks, dark lance

X3 - 4 wyches and a hekatrix with haywire
X3 venom with cannons

Brings the total to 972!

I'm on my phone so I can't really go into detail on how I'd use the lists. But I'll be playing against Astra for the first few games. Chances are there won't be any flyers. Probably will see either all tanks or blobs.

for the first list, you could add 3 reavers with cluster caltrops if you drop the heat lance on the talos.

You got no close combat squads except the small wyches squad. That doesn't make sense. Drop close combat squads completely for more upgrades or another Warrior squad with Blaster. You got points left over so maybe a Sybarite with Haywire Grenades

List one. I would also drop the hl on the Talos, an maybe even the wwp (although that changes the DA tactics a bit) and get a succubus to go with the grots

Fulgrym - thanks, thats a solid Idea. I initially had the heat lance so the WWPing DA could potentially do some damage to a vehicle the turn it arrives, but some CC reavers might provide some more versatility.

CptMetal - I mainly wanted the wyches for their haywire, not so much for their CC ability. Also I wanted the splinter rack gun boats and I don't have enough warriors for the three squads of 5 inside the venoms. I was also thinking they could tarpit if need be. But the more I think about it, Guard don't really have anything that a unit of 5 wyches will be able to effectively tarpit. Thanks for the comment, I'll try switching them out for warriors and see how the points work out and if there is something else I could add to the list. Blasters also might end up being more effective than haywire.. Thanks for the comment!

Nariakllzhar - I'm using an archon because of the campaign! He's my "special" character for the duration of the campaign : ).. but I hear ya on the succubus. AP 2 would be nice to have in there. I think I want to keep the WWP because how much they disrupt the backfield when they come in. Coming up the table they might be able to charge turn two (if I'm lucky) but they'll be subject to two rounds of fire and also deploying on the table provides my opponent the opportunity to manoeuvre around them as they move up! That was my thinking anyway : p..

Not a problem dude, plus the two MC's in the Artisan can always smash those vehicles at Str 10 Wink
