This year has me smitten.
I came across a lot of spare time and scratched an old itch to jump back into Warhammer, High Elf lore in particular. I scooped up the starter paint kit and by February I had the Isle of Blood pack.
Before diving in to all that painting, I hoped to score a codex. I traveled the extra distance to a more Table game-centric store. Good thing I did, or else I never would have learned of the gaping vacuum that is the American fantasy community.
After careful deliberation I found myself converting up the rat ogres and even a Haemy that I am so proud of. Just collecting the last bulk of my transports and I can start playing games. I've sat in on several and straight up studied Skari and Ubernoob. Particularly Ubernoob, whos videos include the rolling, and much needed meta banter that a true noob like me needs. I have all (12 today) the splinterminds downloaded on my phone. So happy to have found this site- even if I did only lurk for a few months.
All in all, I feel a bit foolish for jumping into my local scene (a strong 60- active) with a race that requires a lot of knowledge of the game. But the love for a dense, active, deep and focused community is something I had been missing since youth. While I'm finding that the game and its fans all do have this deep attraction, TDC is just amazing. There will be no allying with week ass cousins, or even clowny psychers. True kin fo life`
Thanks for keeping this up.
