Thoughts on army expansion

Hi All,

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on what I should purchase next for my guys. I had started down the Haemonculus Covens list and was building towards getting all the formations, but I'm finding that they may not be that much fun to play against. Also, they do lack all the interesting and cool units.

So far I have the models for the following.
- Dark Artisan
- Corpsethief Claw
- Scalpel Squadron

In addition I've also got:
- 10x Mandrakes (love these guys)
- 1x Succubus (always wanted my own Succubus)
- 1x Haemonculus

So things I was thinking of adding next are.

OPTION 1 build on the coven. - Grotesquerie
1x Urien Rakarth
6x Grotesques

OPTION 2 build towards CAD or RR detachment.
10 or 20x Troops (probably kabalite)
2x Raiders
10x Scourges (for anti-armour)

I think option 2 seems like more fun, more models to play with, but Option 1 gives a sense of completeness towards what I already have.

Ultimately, I'll get a bunch of reavers as well, but I figured Troops first plus the scourges.

Any thoughts?

I would expand on the coven aspect especially depending on your meta people don't play against them often so are a little surprised by their resilience.

I definitely want to get that Grotesquerie soon, but I'm trying to be better with how much I spend each month of models so it's a case of either 6-7 grotesques or around 30x plastic guys and vehicles. The vehicle route seems like more bang for my buck at this stage.

Do you rate any of the other Coven formations that I haven't yet got?

You can create mandrake with the spirits from the undead from fantasy and the grotesques using talos parts and crypt horrors from vampires. That's the way I made them.

I'll have a think about that for the Grotesques. I saw that someone else had used Stormvermin or something as well, that would certainly save a lot of money.

Another cheap way is to go on eBay and get rat ogres from the island of blood starter. They at least use to be super cheap and easily convertible using talos bits. If you combine them with crypt horrors you can have a lot of variation in your squad. Maybe add one of the standard grotesques to be the leader and your good to go.

Grotesques, I love my Grotesques, My son plays Tyranids so I went out and bought a box of the Warhammer Blight Kings, then just threw some tryanid parts on them. Came out really good. They are on the right base but they are a little shorter then the true model.
