It's very expensive (points and dollars wise) and very fragile (both in game and in real life).
You will probably do very well with against opponents who have not seen a Tantalus on the battlefield before (given its prohibitive cost, this will probably be common).
Against opponents who are prepared for it, or who know what a Tantalus can do and how to stop it, it is extremely fragile, and will be fairly easy to neutralize or destroy.
