| Hi all, been away for a while I know, but I'm coming back to seek your support on a project I'd like to get going next year. That's right, I'm planning on putting on a tournament.
Not just any tournament though, this one is not about personal achievement, but the gaming community coming together to raise money for charity.
My intention is for a group of gamers to get together and play for a solid 24 hours (minus breaks for lunch etc)
I've not decided on a format yet, though I'd love for it to be a team campaign style event rather than a series of games that don't connect to each other (that will be the subject of a later poll to see if there's a preference one way or another).
Please stop by my blog and have a look at my reason for doing this - if love to see the gaming community rally round and show people what we can achieve together! There is a poll currently on the blog to gauge what interest there might be in attending such an event - your vote will count!

| 24 hours? Sounds like a standard Apocalypse game.......
In all seriousness though, it sounds like an excellent idea.

| Haha, thanks! Though I've never played apocalypse, nothing bigger than a landraider in my collection sadly. | |

| Just thought I'd update you all on this one - I'm continuing to work in the background on the event, and am posting details on my blog as they become available. You can access the event page here.
I've also set up a forum for the event - I wanted to develop it as kind of a community event with as much feedback as possible from those interested in attending to make sure the day runs as the participants want it to. I've got some work to do on making it look pretty and get the relevant boards etc set up, but the address is http://heroforaday.proboards.com/
so if you're interested in attending (20th August 2016 in Asfordby, just outside Melton Mowbray in the East Midlands of the UK) then by all means register - just give me a couple of days to get the basics done on the forum
EDIT: I've got the basics set out, and I'll be updating links etc on the forum to the mission documents I'm working on so you can see the missions I'm planning. Please feel free to use the missions and let me have any feedback on how they work - I'd like to get them tested before the event so any comments you might have just let me know.

| Greetings denizens of Commorragh! Another one of my plugs for this event - 24 hours, 8 games of 40k (incl 2 kill team). I have already sold half the tickets for this event, so I'm looking for some more dedicated 40kers to put aside some time and come along to take part in this event - it's a team campaign style event so every game you play goes into the team's performance, and the next mission to be played is influenced by the result of the previous game. We've got some great stuff planned, including a raffle with some incredibly generous prizes (our own Evil Space Elves is painting something, though he hasn't told me what yet, and one of our other donors has given us a copy of deathwatch: overkill to add to the pot). Tickets are just £10, and that includes two meals on the day (lunch is a free hour so either bring your own or use the excellent chippy a short walk from the venue ) Best of all, this event is to raise money for an excellent charity, the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group. If you can't make it for whatever reason, please consider donating something, our online donations page can be found here hope to see some of you there - PM me if you want more details! | |

| Hi all - Hero for a Day is nearly upon us, but there are still tickets left if you want to come along - we're starting the games at midnight on the 19th August and playing right through until midnight on the 20th - that's eight games of 40k, including 2 games of kill team.
Entry is just £10, which includes two meals.
There's a raffle going on as well, which you can buy tickets for without needing to attend the event (though obviously we'll need to discuss how best to get prizes to those people who buy tickets but aren't there in person). The prize pot is looking awesome, and includes items such as Lost Patrol, a Ceerastus Knight Castigator, and Deathwatch: Overkill!
PM me if you're interested, or please also feel free to share the details with anyone else you know who may be interested, you can contact me directly via my blog email, which is theburningeyeblog@gmail.com

| I can't come along, but I will pass this on to some local groups to see if any of them want to join. It is for a great cause | |

| I will see if I can squeeze some money free! I contacted GW Shrewsbury and they said that you can post on their main page to advertise the event if you like. Other GW's closer to you will probably be more than happy to help with it, too. Edit: Might also be worth sticking a thread in the Announcement section, too. That could help drum up support. | |

That's a good idea - I've got posters in my local stockist but haven't gone wider than that at this point. Presumably you're meaning facebook page? I will do yes, I'm sure there must be some DE players in the vicinity who would come along!
