| Hey yall,
I just picked up a box of 10 kabalite warriors, a Raider and a Ravager. Needless to say i figure they will be used in any pt amount army.
Anyway my question is, could anyone give me some sample 1000 dark eldar armies? kind of just a template of the different viable choices i have.
Im starting to buy the models and put together a 1000pt army to start out with and was wanting feedback from yall on what are some good lists. As i said above a have 10 warriors and a raider to transport them and also a heavy support slot with the ravager, So what are some other good choices and synergys?
lastly in a small point army (1000pt) is it good to just stick with kabalite warriors (shooty) for my troops and have my melee invested say in my elite choices or should i also get some wychs?
thanks yall ps- this will be my jump off point army and plan on expanding this small one once ive played for alittle and have more funds to expands it

| My 2 cents-I prefer to get my melee units from the troops section. Wyches and even Wracks will serve you well while also counting as scoring units. Wyches can be loaded up to do AT work(haywire grenades), tar pit/hold up units in combat(Shardnet and impaler), or slice and dice meat grinder unit(razorflails/hydra gauntlets). Wracks are more durable with their feel no pain and are great with 2 poisoned weapons(think taking down big things). While Harlequins and Incubi are great at melee, I really feel that DE get a lot of mileage from their troop selections.
I would pick up a battleforce box, an HQ of your choice, and another Ravager. Should put you at about 1000pts. It would be a starting point for you to try some games. See what works for you(shooting vs aggressive assaulting style or a mixture of both).
You can also look at the great tactics section of this site for ideas. There are some great tid bits of advice here. Once you start putting a list together you can always post it in the army lists section for critique and advice.

| so you think instead of using wychs i could use 10 wracks and theyd be more effective? on paper it looks that way, also you dont reccomend using troop selections for shooters? so drop the kabalite warriors for say 10 wychs? have 10 wychs and 10 wracks for my troop selection, and maybe truebornes for my elite choices? | |

| I use troops for everything. I absolutely use troops as shooters too. I run a tossed-salad list most of the time with Kabalites, Wyches, and a unit of Wracks or two. I just don't use non-troops for assaulting close combat units very often. It really depends on your playing style. I would argue that your list already has a ton of AI in it with all of the venoms. As to Wracks being more/less effective than Wyches:it really is situational. Wyches truly excel in cc(4+ invulnerable, fleet, combat drugs, all kinds of cool weapons) while Wracks are good in close combat while being tougher (T4, free pian point). Both are great and should be used where they work best. Careful posting lists in the general discussion section: the moderators here are very thorough and will probably move the thread to the army lists section. If you post a list there you should get better advice than my "some stuff is good, try it out and have fun" routine. | |
