| Ive heard and read alot about how war convocation is a top-tier list in the current tournament meta but i don't know much about them.
They have a long shopping list of cool special rules, have truly excellent firepower + the skitarii can be fast and the bots can be really tough (poison has to re-roll successful wounds) and they run with an imp knight.
Ive faced knights frequently so i know how to take them down but what about the rest?
Anybody have any exp/thoughts on how the dark kin+allies match up to war convocation?
Thanx guys. | |

| What about a archangel of Pain bomb? Coupled with Armour of Misery and freakish spectacle of course. | |

I believe the Cult Mechanicus units can be made Fearless with one of the canticles. Don't know about the Skitarii stuff.

| Whats worse is that everything counts as cult mech for their rules and that you can have up to 3 knights in the formation - which all benefit. | |

| The greatest threat in playing them is the sheer number of special rules these guys have. Upgrades being free, they have EVERYTHING their combined books have to offer, combined with both Skitarii and Mechanicus canticles, that vary greatly from turn to turn. These rules affect the entire army for one turn each, and they may re-use one per game. There is a lot of fun to be had here, like twin-linking the entire army, or shrouded for them all. If your opponent is experienced, I'd say you have no chance of winning if you do not learn these special rules. The Dark Eldar face some serious problems agains them that eldar simply ignore completely. Many of their units are 2W models with FNP. They are only T3, though, so scatterbikes don't care at all, where poison needs to make a lot of wounds for each kill. What we do have, though is manouverability. Most of their shooting is fairly short-ranged, so stay away and pick them off one by one. Be aware, thogh, that their assault units are very fast, adding 3" to all their moves (Move/run/charge/consolidate), and with the right canticles they will reduce your Toughness by one, while buffing themselves to S7/AP2. I had a single of these units completely decimate my Corpsethief Claw one time. It was quite the eye-opener. | |

| Thanx Sigmaril. Their special rules and free upgrades are utterly insane! Like you said pure DE's only hope is to run away and concentrate fire on the fast stuff and play the mission. Even then it's not going to be fun. It seems not many archons here have any exp against war convocation. They don't know how lucky they are. | |

| I've played against one a few times, but only with Corsairs.
One thing I'll say is that I've never once killed the IK - even in a game where I had 2 Fusion Guns in its rear, 2 in its side (all in melta range) and 5 Dark Lances in the front with rerolls to-hit.
Also, their HQ can repair the IK if he's next to it.
In terms of the Skitarii stuff, I think DE are pretty screwed by the lack of S6. As I'm sure we can testify, it makes a lot of difference when facing T3 units with FNP (especially when some of them have 2 wounds). The best bet would probably be to take out their long-range stuff (IK not withstanding) and then stay out of the range of their other stuff.
No idea how DE can deal with the IK though.

Ask one of the Craftworlds to borrow some of their Fire Dragons?
