Reaver spam 1850

I've mentioned this list in other places on the forem before but I figured I'd post it here as well. I've done very well with it I think I'm 12 and 2 at this point. Yes it basically automatically loses kill point games but we're dark Eldar we're probably going to lose that anyway.Technically it's an Eldar list but I think we all know what's really going on.

This list boasts insanely high numbers of units that are so insanely fast. Against many armies, you could literally coat every single enemy unit with a jetbike blanket on turn one. Not that that strategy wins games, but you know, one day I want to try it. "Target saturation? Watch this!"

Do you play online with this list, or do you actually have 48 Reavers in real life?

Do you find yourself having any trouble with horde lists? I can't imagine your Reavers dealing well with big units of Guardsmen, for example.

I do own them. It took some time and dealing but I got it together.

Hordes can be a problem but it's more about the space they take up on the table than it is a matter of killing them. If you change 15 Reavers with 5 caltrops into most hordes they die pretty good. Even if you don't kill them or break them because they're stubborn or fearless. You'll win combat and then use hit and run to get out with all but one unit. They're still locked up on there turn and then on yours you charge them again.

The biggest issue is that this unit of 30 - 50 Guardsmen will only cost the opponent about 150 - 290 pts, depending on their loadout. They'll be unbreakable with a Priest, and will possibly get re rolls to wound with him as well, so they're hitting back pretty hard if enough of them stick around.

So we're going to have to hit it really hard to ensure this doesn't happen. I think we would need to dedicate at least 5 squads, and know that at least one will completely die to overwatch. Our caltrops rolls would have to be killer too.

For the points we dedicate to eliminating one of these big hordes, they can usually field at least one more of equivalent price. The plus side is that a huge unit still only kills 3 Reavers with their shooting.

Obviously, the results speak for themselves, and you're doing really well with this army list. Would be cool to see a photo of the full army if you find time to take one!

Yeah,I agree with basically all of that. The single biggest issue is trying to fight only a portion of your opponents army at a time. Hordes make it difficult to avoid them because they tend to take up a huge portion of the table.

I'm also totally stealing your single central stripe design. Looks beautiful on them, red and blue match nicely. I have other ideas in mind for colours, but yeah, definitely going to try that single central stripe.

Thanks everyone. It's kind of a pain to paint all of them so they lack detail at this point but I figure I can go through one at a time and add more. Actually the single stripe is there so that I can see which ones have the cluster caltrops and blasters. It's hard to tell when they're all bunched up, so I put the red stripe on them so I would be able to see at a glance.

Ah I see, so the front line and a half are all the Reavers carrying your blasters and ccs? That's certainly a brilliant way to do it, but I unequivocally love the single stripe either way, and intend to put it on all my Reavers.

Perhaps I'll find some other method of portraying which one has a special load out. Not that I'd have quite so many Reavers as you anyway.
