| Maybe a little off topic but dawn of war 3 was announced today with a pretty great trailer. Oddly enough the marines kept dying. Anyways we won't be main game material unless you like eldar but maybe in time or a community mod. | |

| Oh, come on, Red King. You know the order of the day is DLC, DLC, DLC. I hate what the video game industry has become. | |

| "Little off topic"? Isn't Craftword Eldar codex our codex in 7th edition?
Displeasure with GW aside I am a little disappointed with some of the information come out saying that battle map base building is back and that they simplified the combat system. I would have loved for Total War sized armies fighting on battle maps where terrain played an important part and every lost unit could effect the battle income.

| The first bit depends on conversion skills lol
I missed the base building myself but I wouldn't have minded a little bit of total war. Still with knights and such it's going to be big.
Could be good for the hobby. I mean DoW is how I got into warhammer as a kid.

I hate what the video game industry has become. If that means a Dark Eldar DLC as well I am more than willing to pay for it.

| I agree. I like dlc if it isn't content they intentionally removed. | |

| Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm going to pay for it too. I just hate that it has to be delivered like that. I wouldn't mind paying 60-80 dollars for a complete game that they didn't tear apart and frankenstein back together afterwards. If games like that gave us promises of X DLCs are going to be made, and allowed a "season pass" option to just pay an extra $20-$30 at release to get access to all the future DLCs, I'd take it. But I don't like the DLC model anyhow. Companies are afraid to release day 1 DLC now because there is such a public outcry against it, so things that SHOULD be a part of the main story get held back till half of us have finished the game, making the additional experience a bit lackluster later for the DLC.
It inevitably makes the DLCs more of a "tacked on" experience than if it was released with the game. If it was part of a more expensive "core game", stories and features in the game would coincide and work better with those features.

| On the subject of the trailer for DoW3 I've got to say, the Wraithknight v Imperial Knight segment looks amazing! | |

That was my favorite part of the video though I did enjoy watching the Killa Kan bisect the Blood Raven. Really liked the texturing on the Wraithbone as well. If it comes time for an expansion or DLC with Dark Eldar I won't hesitate to buy it.

| DoW was what got me into 40k, yeah. The fanaticism of the Whirlwind driver in the demo saying, "His wrath falls from the heavens!" before unleashing a barrage absolutely sold me on the setting. I grew up on RTS games and I still consider DoW1 the best one that came out this millennium. Wasn't a fan of #2 so hoping #3 goes in a direction I'll enjoy. | |

I hate what the video game industry has become. To be fair, whats the difference between DLC and expansion sets? These days, Winter Assault, Dark Crusade and Soulstorm as they were would be DLC.

There's nothing really wrong with the idea of DLC in itself, old school expansion packs show that, but too often these days DLC is actually you paying to unlock content that was on the disc already.

| Is it going back to RTS or is it another garbage squad based adventure game? | |

| Its army based RTS. - Quote :
- Relic/Sega say that DoW3 will have “the epic scale of Dawn of War” combined with “the customization and elite heroes of Dawn of War II.”

| I'm not going to get the game because my computer is on it's last legs (not that it has legs) and there's no Dark Eldar.
But I've watched that trailer like five or six times now.
Really, I just want more stuff like that trailer - like a (good) film or miniseries.
Of course, if they put out an expansion that will let me play Dark Eldar, I will immediately investigate how many internal organs I need to sell to buy a computer capable of running it. (Of course they're my organs. I found them.)

| @Calyptra Keep in mind also that the game was just announced it won't be out for at least a year. I'm going to be very disappointed if they don't have Dark Eldar in it later. | |

I played the bejebus out of Soulstorm, but there were never any Dark Eldar in Dawn of War 2, right? (I always figured that if there were, I'd know, because my Dark Eldar sense would have been tingling.)

Unfortunately they never released Dark Eldar, the only factions in Dawn of War 2 were the Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Eldar, Tyranids, and Orks. I was really disappointed by this especially sense it would have meant that the army would be using 5th edition as it's basis.

| Never pre-order. Let someone else buy it, review and then see if its worth your money. Or wait for a sale. | |
