Oh I don't think it's that surprising. There's something inherently appealing in being able to roll 9 shots with AP2.

The only other thing I can think of that can do that is a squadron of War Walkers with starcannons - admittedly they do it better with 12 shots at S6, but still.

A comparision with a HB is understandable... but not "accurate".

A marine has a LOT of "heavy" weapons to chose from: assault cannon, laser cannon, plasma cannon, plasma rifle, meltagun, multi melta... bla bla bla

We...either go upclose and personal (heat lance and blaster) or go for "long" range (DL and dissie).

My main point for throwing some dissie in the list is, as I said, WTF do you do with 4 Venoms when your AT has been removed and he still has say 1-2 rhinos with troops?

I'll leave it here, 'cause we've all made a point Smile

Good Hunting!

I think the Dissies problem is not that it is bad, just that it is a secondary option to dark lances, when dark lances are our only 'reliable' long range anti tank guns.
Even armies that have acces to massive amounts of anti tank fire don't often substitute dedicated anti tank units for anti infantry ones. That may be the reason, why you don't often see leeman russ punisher, at least in my gaming group.
And hell, with the diminishing impact of ap, because of cover, I'd exchange our current dissie for an ap- heavy20 weapon everyday, but if I had to take it instead of a S10 large blast, I'd take the latter anyway.

To cut a long story short, if every dissie I take means one lance I can't take and lances are my only long range anti tank gun, and are already few to begin with, it's not that I don't take dissies, it's that I take lances.

95% of the IG in my area take the full plasma Leman.

90% of the IG in my area take the Heavy 20 + Pask Leman

In my first WWP game vs IG... 4 grotesques made it to the "touchdown" zone of the IG... multicharge... 1 single grotesque was able to hit the non-moved Lemans... 1 immo (wrecked due to squadron) and 1 wrecked.

The IG is still yapping about how grotesques are so overpowered hahahahaha

DisRav have their use in very small games , like 750-1000 where you may encounter things like combat sqauds without transport and the like, 10 BA assault squad.

If you are building balanced list in above points, and balanced means it can attempt to win any other list out there you are handicapping yourself against pure mech lists.
Dissie Ravager, even one will not have targets , and by its very presence targets will appear more slowly , because you ate your long AT slot. So DisRav making your balance list less balanced.

Disentegrators on Razorwings is completely another srory )

This perfectly encapsulates the best argument. Dark Lances seem plentiful, but they all come with severe tradeoffs in either threat range (blasters) or mobility (infantry DLs). The best platforms for them tend to be the vehicles, where they are already a free weapon and get to maximize that threat bubble.
