| I try to do some games at 1000 points against Vanilla Marines, IG and Eldar. But perhaps I encounter something else, so I have to field a pretty flexible army:
Archon (Punisher, Shadowfield, Haywire-grenades) 115
4 TB (4 Blaster) w/ Venom (2 splintercanons) 173
9 Wyches (Haywire-grenades) w/ Hekatrix (venomblades) + Raider (disintegrator) 183 20 Warriors (2 Splintercanons) 200 10 Warriors (Shredder, splintercanon) 105
4 RJB (1 Blaster) 103
Talos (synchr. Haywiregun, second CCW) 120
total: 999
Tactica: - Archon joins Wyches, looking for some nice enemy unit to butcher - Warriors + Raider + Venom kill Infantry, secure targets (the Warriors) - TB kill Tanks - RJB zoom around, shoot Tanks and Infantry - Talos is the distraction/bulletmagnet-unit and tries to get into CC
As it is my first armylist in the last 5 years: Did I forgot something important? Any suggestions?
Your opinions please!

| A couple of quick thoughts;
1. Unless I've gone totally insane - Archons can't take Punishers anymore.
2. That 4th Bike really isn't helping anything - that's easy saved points there.
3. I don't see the value in the Dissie on the Raider, you're hurting for anti-tank shooting, I'd leave it as the lance.
4. On average Chain-flails will net you more attacks than an additional CCW with the Talos.

But what should I field instead? Equip w/ those Caltrops-Launcher ? 3. As i haven't played for a long time: are there many tanks out there in 1000pts games? 4. Perhaps i didn't quite understand the way a Talos is equipped. It has 1 CCW, you can exchange the CCW with some Flails or a Liquifier. If i'd do that, the Talos has W6-1 attacks? No attacks? gotta reread codex + rulebook!

| 1. No worries, I *wish* they could still take the Punisher, Str 4 Archons with Drugs were awesome.
2. Well, you'll have, what, 23 spare points? That's a lot of goombah to play with. Immediate thoughts are getting a Wych weapon with the Wyches, or getting one of the assault weapons (shredder, blaster) into that big Warrior mob. To be frank - if it was me, I'd want to split up and trim down the Warrior squads and get them mechanized - but I understand that can be cost prohibitive for a newer gamer. But, at the basic core, a Shredder/Blaster will make that big squad more viable for hurting stuff.
3. Fifth Edition is *very* favorable to mechanized armies. If you look at all the top netlists, they are heavily mechanized. I'll also happily take any mechanized force versus a footslogging force and pretty much expect to win, as the only really competitive footslogging lists are few and far between (frankly, besides Orks and IG I don't think anyone else can even manage). That all said - I'm saying that from a competitive/tourney play mentality. For games with friends you might have a totally different meta game going on.
4. Here's the breakdown;
Talos - 1d6 attacks
Talos w. extra CCW - 1d6 attacks +1
Talos w. Chain Flails - 2d6 attacks, pick highest.
Talos w. Chain Flails and extra CCW - 2d6 attacks, pick highest +1
Make sense? | |

| next try:
Archon (Agoniser, Shadowfield, Haywire-grenades)
4 TB (4 Blaster) w/ Venom (2 splintercanons)
9 Wyches (Haywire-grenades) w/ Hekatrix (venomblades) + Raider (DL) 12 Warriors (SC) 11 Warriors (SC)
3 RJB (1 Blaster)
Talos (synchr. Haywiregun, Chainflail) Ravager (3 DL)
total: 999
- 5 Different units able to take out armour - Warriors + Venom concentrate on AI - Archon + Wyches kill both
I think, I need more Raider/Venoms - footslogging is just for lowly IG-slaves-to be

| I'd probably trim back the random extra Warriors to put Flickerfields on the Ravager and Raider, but other than that I think the list looks pretty sharp. | |
