| Me & my teammate are discussing what army he should take to compliment my Dark Eldar. He has Eldar, Space Marines, and Orks. What are some good strategies or what would you do? It's 1000pts a player, 2000pts a side. | |

| What type of DE do you run?
Orks pair up well if your DE are all about anti-mech. Space marine Razorspam can be an amazing partner to Venomspam. Even Eldar can pair well depending on the builds.

| All kinds. Lately I've been running with a lot of Wyches & Warriors and getting right up in my enemy's face, moving 12" and disembarking. I was thinking of doing a Venom spam though, because I came up with a rough list idea that had like 138 Splinter shots. | |

| I would team up with Eldar.
Because you like to get in the opponents face, so you can handle the CC. And then the Eldar player can handle anti tank, with their amazing firepower.

| That's three very different forces your friend has there, so it might be best to consider which one he's really good with. It's all very well to team up with an army that compliments yours in it's usual playing style, but if he's useless with them then you'll crash and burn.
Personally, assuming your friend is just as good with all three armies, I'd be tempted to go with Space Marines. Orks will give you massive numbers, but won't help your anti tank at all, whereas Marines can. Eldar, whilst fast and shooty, can't hold objectives as well as Marines. In objective based games, you can dash ahead of your teammate and grab objectives, then he can be there one or two turns later to hold it whilst you dash to the next. They have the staying power that Dark Eldar, Eldar and Orks lack, even if the alliance makes no sense whatsoever in terms of fluff!

| How may points is this? I teamed up with an ork player a year ago in a small 1500(combined) tournament. We were pretty much able to kill it with a skillet. I agree with Mr. B above. Razorspam SM's would complement our army SO well. If you like to rush ahead, imagine what razorback fire support and drop pod reinforcements would look like. Awesomeness. | |

| Ok so he picked Orks, here is his list. I have to split the rest of the FO chart with him & can only take 1 FA sense he took none, but what would work best with this army? I know nothing about Orks.
HQ: Big Mek Burns, force field - he'll give all my kans and boys a cover save and let me take a dread as a troop
Troop1: 30 boys, nob with claw, 3 x big shootas Troop2: 3o boys, nob with claw, 3 x big shootas Troop3: Deff dread, 2 x scorch as Elite1: 6 lootas Heavy support1: Killa kans with rokkit launchas Heavy support2: Kill kans with grotzookas
I have 1 HQ spot, 3 Troop spots, 2 Elite spots, a FA slot, and a Heavy slot.
If I was gonna max out on anti-tank then my list would look like this:
Archon - Blaster 5 Kabalite Warriors - Blaster, Raider w/ Flickerfield, Nightshields 5 Kabalite Warriors - Blaster, Raider w/ Flickerfield, Nightshields 5 kabalite Warriors - Blaster, Raider w/ Flickerfield, Nightshields 4 Kabalite Trueborn - 4 Blasters, Raider w/ Flickerfield, Nightshields 4 Kabalite Trueborn - 4 Blasters, Raider w/ Flickerfield, Nightshields Ravager - Flickerfield, Nightshields
Do the lists work well together?

| Why have you only got 1 FA slot? If you're splitting a FO chart and he has none, shouldn't you have 3 to play with? | |

| Personally I have a new found respect for scourges - I used them yesterday with two haywire blasters and started them on the board. They hopped up one side of the board from the cover I deployed them behind and reliably silenced a tank every single turn. For me that beats the raider warriors against mech armies, as you can hopefully deploy them slightly forward depending on terrain then move and fire for a combined 36" range with two anti tank shots. Plus you can deep strike them against opponents who don't have much mech and silence that problem tank.
I know they're not for everyone, in fact I didn't think they were for me until yesterday, but I'd rather reliably stop a tank firing every turn than maybe destroy one. You silence the tanks and his dreads and kans can move in for the kill. Plus scourges just look so damn pretty...
I still expect this suggestion to be torn to bits as readily as scourges sometimes are though! I just like them, and they're one of the few units that can cause haywire results. And if you're the guy hunting tanks, that's a pretty useful ability.
