Corsairs - questions

I asked these questions some time ago and I hope any Corsair players will have a few thoughts on these issues. Cheers in advance.

Corsair Prince can take the “Seeker of Forbidden Pleasures” option. In doing so he gains the Corsair combat drugs special rule.

I am clear on the rules as they apply to units of infantry/jetbikes/jetpacks etc. What I am not 100% sure of is if this also applies to the Baron and the Void Dreamer i.e if joined to an appropriate unit ? Seems strange if they miss out.

My second question concerns the upgrade options for a troops Felarch. The rules state "The Felarch may exchange its lasblaster for a choice of up to two listed items". It does seem he can not already have taken the general option of swopping the lasblaster  (prior to his upgrade) for combat weapon and brace of pistols? Thereby allowing him, for instance ,just to take a venom blade? If not then he seems restricted to having to buy a pistol from the two (not exactly wonderful) options given so as he can at least try to shoot something.

Thoughts appreciated.

1- The Baron or Dreamer don't benefit from their squad's drugs, but can buy drugs on their own.

The Felarch issue does seem a bit of an oversight as it makes him somewhat expensive for 1 extra attack and a leadership buff.

We're a leadership conscious army and they can always take the other basic weapon options instead, just not those other options and the sgt kit. It's also cheaper than any other armies sgt upgrade, and they are valid targets for the other character effects for first prince powers. I think it's worth 15pts to make one of your dark lances master crafted on a balestrike band, or 35pts to bring a multiphase key generator in your deepstriking falcon. CWE have exarchs and warlocks as Sgts. Harlies have troupemasters. Corsairs are like DE sgts in that they're highly situational.
