WWP Feint Empty
PostSubject: WWP Feint   WWP Feint I_icon_minitimeTue Oct 18 2011, 04:45

Hey all, just picked up the codex and a thought popped into my head. I poked around the board a little and noticed that people are pretty much against the use of a mixed Mech/WWP list, and I understand all the reasons that have been given. I first came up with the idea for a space marine army, but i think that for the Dark Kin it could be far more terrifyingly effective.

Buy transports for your squads as usual. They will be the feint. Use them as either as mini-Ravs to tank-hunt, or out and out "lie" to your opponent by studying things you would want to be in CC with, then moving them accordingly. Then drop a WWP or two and have the squads that "belong" to the raiders charge out of the WWP in a rush of razor blades and concentrated murder. Think of it like the old shyster game with the pea under the cups, even when your opponent knows what you are up to, the empty raiders can screen the ones that are holding your Archon/Haemie.

And if all else fails, you can deploy normally against an army that would swarm WWPs, in which you've only "wasted" 35-70 points on the portals 9and if you drop them after all, the opponent will likely respond to them, splitting his forces or taking defenders away from objectives.

Yeah, it's a dirty trick, but if you're going to be called a git for not "Fighting fair" and letting the opponent use you as a punching bag, you should earn the title.

On closer inspection of the rules, this is not possible as a deception. Reserves must be clearly stated before/during deployment. So, they'd only be useful as screens. Sorry for the inconvenience.
