Soul burst in assault phase time dilation.

So the discussion on the combo laser lance Power Axe jetbike autarch using soul burst to hit at both I6 and I1 not only lead me to build that conversion because that sounds awesome but also caused me to reread all the information about soulburst as such an autarch seems like a prime candidate for the lost shroud.

I came to a question and I wanted to solicit the communities opinion on what the correct answer to this is: With the FAQ in place, Can I fully complete a combat subphase with a unit, releasing it from combat through killing everything or by other means, wipe a squad or IC at I10-I8 in a different fight, soulburst charge the freed unit in at one initiative step lower than the one the squad was wiped at, and swing normally at I6 on the charge with that unit?

Your question is a little hard to follow. Could you give an example of what you're thinking of?

I have 3 units of reavers with CC's and a Laser lance autarch attached to one squad. Each unit charges a different unit. I resolve the combat with the Autarch first. At the end of the fight I leave combat either through HnR or by completely destroying the other unit. If I killed a unit I do not soulburst with the autarchs unit. I move on to the second combat and kill a unit, even an IC, at HoW with the CC's and soulburst charge with the Autarchs unit, either into the ongoing combat or the unresolved 3rd combat. Because the soulburst was at I10 I charge at I9, and am thus entitled to swing with the laser lance again.

I don't know if their is any basis to my thought process but to me the initiative steps are global rather than per combat. I always assumed we went combat by combat for simplicity sake, but I feel like with an ynnari list you have to resolve each I step in every combat in descending order.

Thus HoW for each unit, then you move to I9 and every combat with an I9 happens. Then I8, I7, so on and so forth.

Assault rules very clearly tell us not to do that.
