Lords of the Iron Thorn - Project Log

Hello Everyone,

I have never been one to do project logs ... in fact, I am normally the guy who has tons of ideas and color schemes and models that never get finished... I am restarting Collecting DE after a few years, I sold off my last set because of life and I would like to share will you all my progress and I hope this helps to keep me motivated. So I will be painting my Kabal as the Lords of the Iron-thorn and my Homunculus Coven as the coven of twelve and then there is my Wyches who I love and I am not sure what to name them as of yet ...












That is all as of now perhaps once I finish my wrack unit I will work on the Kabal

Thanks guys, I am hoping to keep my attention on the DE until I can get most of it painted ... my goal was to slowly add to it, but; I got a sweet deal on FB so now I have around 3K in points and there are a few kits I still want... Sadly I will be playing some games this weekend instead of painting, but; I hope to get back to it in a few days.

Good tones and detail level. I recommend trying highlighting the silver on the masks like you have done on the corset. Really liking the design you have made on the sails.

Hey guys, Well I finished the wyches to where I am happy with them. I also managed to finish a Mandrake squad, I have always loved the models and now the rules are OK... I am working on my Wrack Raider and the Squad as well as my Heamonculus so they will be the next lot you guys get to see. sorry for the bad cell phone pictures.

Made some more progress over the last few weeks, I have added the Wrack Raider and a Ravager to the army, If I finish my Wrack unit and the Homunculus I will have a painted and fieldable army small as it is, but; it has been a long time since I managed that feat.

Nice work! These are a really distinctive looking set of Dark Eldar. I really like the sort of faded/chipped painted look of their vehicles.

What are you using as the Raider base?

I am just using the standard large flying bases that GW sends with the Kits. Thanks, I am really liking how they are turning out.

I took a break this weekend from painting my Wrack unit I am somewhere above 15 hours of work on them ... they are almost done, I figured I needed to get some terrain painted. I've had this for six months or so it has seen two games so I figured it was time to paint it... I am going to paint some of the GW Moonscape craters and repaint an Aquila lander to match the colors.

I'm having a bit of trouble making out some of the detail on the smaller models in your lightbox (although the close-up on your Voidraven base is clear). Can you get a little more light in there somehow?

Ya sadly the bulb in the other light went out .. I need to replace it... thanks I am happy with how they have come out.

Maybe try to add some luminosity with 'toshop if you can't reshoot ?

Not that I'm one to talk about murky lighting, but I'm iffily playing mine off as artistic effect

OK, so I have not been able to get time to post more of the army, currently I have 1700 points painted .. still a lot more on the queue ... So here you go, sorry for the bad cell phone photos I still need to fix my light box. Also I made a 4X4 table, painted it and finished my terrain to match, the table will eventually be able to expand to 6x4 I need to make the middle section.
