| Question is - where do you get that many Lances? I mean WISYWIG.
Special weapon of Scourges on the bits sites was always non-existant category, bought off as soon as it appears. And you have exactly one in the box. Buy 4 boxes just for Lances? | |

| Warriors and Scourges each come with 1.
3 Boxes of Scourges and 5 Boxes of Warriors got me 8, i then cut some off of raider/ravager DL's to mix them up with other rifle looking weapons. (sense i have a Dis Cannon Ravager and 3 Raiders with Dis Cannons)
Edit: Each Raider/Venom box i didnt add the guys on the side, i made them my "trueborn" so they are more dynamic than Kabals and i didnt need to buy ore boxes of Kabals.
Tho i did also buy 2 peoples collections, not counting them this is what i did at 1st. | |

not being able to jump on a raider hurts, the only redeeming quality they have now is that deepstriking allows you to cherry pick where to place them, ideally out of sight of everything but your chosen target, but that's pretty much it right now. I prefer to view them as one of many distraction carnifexes. Essentially any unit can act as a decoy if you play it correctly, and if your opponent ignores it, I do my best to make sure that he pays for it. I want him to watch my left hand when my right is drawing the knife to stab him with, as it were. | Yep, im trying a list soon with 2 units of DL Scourges and 2 units of Cloud Dancers with DL's in a Ynnari list with 4 Troupes rushing to get into CC, i also have a couple fliers and some Beasts.
For me Ynnari makes them work, especially on turn 2 when you soften up some unit for a army wide soulburst on turn 2-3. You can pick when and where you DS, you will be within Soulburst range to shoot 8 DL's (for me 16 b.c i'm DSing 2 units). Is 16 DL's worth 300pts?
Due to Ynnari, and just Aeldari in general along with 8th rules there are so many odd options that could shine.
Will this actually work? IDK thats why i want to try it out, on paper it sounds great. Might it be to many points to make my army effective TAC? Maybe thats why i need to test it out. | |

Despite my bias, I agree that they only really make sense as a bodyguard for an archon and even then they are pretty pricey. | |

| I am enjoying satisfactory performance with my 5Scourge 4DL. I don't think of them as jumping gunners, I treat them as long range snipers that can move it they must. Deploying in a high position, with good cover, they should see half the board, whilst still getting a healthy save.
If they run out of targets they can hop, and let's be honest, 4+ to hit after moving isn't THAT much of a penalty.
I use my Blaster scourges entirely differently, DSing and jumping as their fluff suggests. | |

| 4 shots hitting on a 4+ is statistically EXACTLY the same (2 hits) as 3 shots hitting on 3+ If you are moving every turn a Ravager is better, but if you can stand still for a couple of turns, Scourge out damage. It's a tricky one. My DL Scourges have been doing pretty well, doing the same thing, starting in cover and probably moving once or twice a game. I'll be keeping them for a few more games yet. Yvraine is a great HQ choice to go with a unit too. | |

| I found them lacklustre and have opted to turn mine into blaster scourges. They have half the wounds and toughness as a ravager and moving them sucks.
I agree that fluff wise I see them as awesome snipers with the lances, just wasn't effective for me | |

| I only used them for the first time last night, and while they didn't win me the game outright (the blasterborn in a venom and my archon + 2 sslyth did though....) but it diverted half his army to a section of the board with nothing else, plinked wounds off an exocrine, hive tyrant, and killed 2/3 venomthropes while securing an objective.
One scourge actually ended up surviving a horde of termagaunts, and flew away only to turn around and shoot a tyrant guard dead. They may not be that survivable but they sure are useful! (to me at least) | |

| Against Nids they are a bit better, you can place in cover and dont worry about moving them.
They are niche and some players they will do better against.
I personally stopped taking Scourges in general unless im Ynnari and they i take them as Shardcarbines now. | |

Extra? No i try to take extra mobile cheap units for Ynnari sense vehicles (venoms) cant get Soulburst actions ever. Im thinking about just taking Corsair Skyreavers honestly, they do the same thing but are troops. I did play Ynnari with Cloud Dancer Dark lances.... that way funny, my opponents where so scared of them they put eveything into them turn 1 and ignore 99% my army till they died... it was only 3 of them too lol (I did take a Felarch once for more wounds pool) | |

| One advantage of the Scourge over the ravager is that you can keep them in reserve and bring them turn 1 to avoid being alohs striked if you go second. | |

| I've been running the DL Scourges and the DL Ravager in the same 1500pt list. The Ravager is certainly better, and if I had to chose between them I'd choose it, but I'd rather have the Scourges over a second Ravager.
My reasoning here:
1. I run a primarily Coven/Harlie melee list, so I tend to engage the enemy mid board. Having the Ravager in my back line, a DL Raider with two Blaster Kab squads and a Dissie Raider in the mid field and the Scourges in the enemy deployment has really spread my AT threat range. Often my enemy has to chose between clearing the
2. My playgroup favors tables with dense Terrain. Jungles, ruined cities, multilevel ziggurats. My Ravager can't always spot the big targets. This plays into my third point...
3. Lascannons. Las Preds can succesfully range a Rav. Going against a good tanker can get you in bad shape quick. Scourges have been a good counter to this.
Ultimately it's up to personal choice, but I think they're a handy AV platform and a good tool for the arsenal. Haven't tried with Blasters though. | |
