Where are the ATC tournament reports?!

I'd love to hear your observations from ATC - or if anyone can point me to the place it is already being discussed that'd be great!

well, with over 300 players, I can tell you where the Metta is right now.

Do you own any stormravens? No? Everyone else seems to!
every team there seemed to have 2-3 players with stormravens!

went 4-2, which for me is pretty horrible, but I don't feel bad about either loss because there was literally nothing I could do in either game.

Lost to:
6 stormravens and Dante (he went first, flew up and removed almost all vehicles from the table. ) This player won best general, getting a perfect 20 every game. I did get warlord from him at least.
Lost to:

He rolled a 6 for cult ambush and charges of 10, 10 and 12. Got warlord, first blood and linebreaker. Still lost.

rest of the games I won by either max or close to.
Beat wraithknights, in fact, he killed my warlord and that is it. No other models were removed that game from my entire army.
Both Yannari were about the same.. just maneuvered, crippled (not killed) his units until they were too weak to retaliate, then finished them off.
Other stormravens list, I went first, and that was all she wrote. End of turn 1 = no more stormravens.

Anything in your list that over/under performed in general or against the new "Stormraven Meta"?

I've not really looked at the Imperium stuff in 8e yet. What's so good about Stormravens?

They get something like 24 bolter/assault cannon shots(forget which), 2 lascannons, 2 missles each?

Flyer, high toughness, high wounds, good BS, good range on weapons. Etc.

Hurricane bolters are 3 twin bolters so in rapidfire they each get 12 shots theres 2 of them and a twin assault cannon which is another 12 shots at s6 -1 ... plus the multi melta and it has missiles and can transport things

Like a wise movie once said: nothing is more powerful than an apache helicopter it has both machine guns and missiles it is a veritable death machine. The stormraven is much like an apache except tougher

You did waste your money :p it seems unless you bought 5 or 6 you didn't buy enough and shouldn't have bought them! Probably will be the new riptide so even if you did not spam them and only used 1, your opponent will still call cheese.

So the army lists can be found on the ATC Facebook page and so far by comparing it to the team standings. 1st place was 2 Stormraven spam lists, 1 conscript spam, a girlyman list and a 1k sons list with brimstones. In order of cheese.

Healthy meta shaping up...

I can't even keep looking at these. We've got stealer/ sentinel spam, crimson hunter spam, NURGLE Prince with horror spam... what a meaty meta, any meat you want, as long as it's spam.

But the good thing is with all these spam you can at least kill some of them instead of the invunerable deathstars and wraith spam from before which were invunerable to most weapons.

yeah i'd rather fight all these list than DS list anyday...

I'm not sure if the Genestealer guy was the same I knew who was practicing for the ATC but he was in the Wobbly Modelers. We had a long discussion about bird spam.

I'm genuinely disappointed by the performance of the bird spam lists, but I can't help but feel that's kinda par for the course when it comes to netlisting. Every bird spam list I heard about was like 150+ birds and very minimal support. Birds alone aren't going to win (maybe, I've yet to see 200 brought), they're there to make an absolute mess of the battlefield while you shoot priority targets.

Yeah when i was taking 30 (3 units of 10) it made a mess for my opponents for sure, they either shot them and wasted shots basically, or they didnt and i charged them.

But i play with large amounts of Heavy Vehicles and fliers (around 6-7) with heavy shooting mid range like Blasterborns or Fire Dragons.

When those key units are not being shot at your golden for sure, and if they do take a turn to shoot them and kill 1-2 then your golden b.c you just got 30 Birds to charge all there important units.

I did a Harlequins (5 troupes with 5 Starweavers and 6 bikes) with 30 birds once and my local basically told me dont do that again.....

Ive sense only been playing with 6-15 birds and those are doing great for friendly games.

I just got my hands on another 30, and will be likely buying another 30 more. This means I'll have 90 birds for NOVA. I could go as high as 120 but to be honest I think the diminishing returns kick in pretty fast with them. You NEED a backfield when using them, something the 150+ bird armies just don't get. 40k, even in the bastardized form that is 8th edition, is all about forcing target priority selection. If you have only birds, then where the hell is the priority? You need anti-infantry guns, anti-tank guns, support units, etc. Make them think about what they're going to do and then punish them for their choices.

So They are no Auto win?

They're pretty close to it if you know what you're doing (at least with ATC rules/missions). Alan pj-pants went 6-0 with birds, was the 5th highest scorer and his team came in fourth. I went 6-0, was the second highest scorer on my team, and my team came in second. Sean Nayden went 5-1 I think and his loss was just because he got the primary and secondary mission switched in his head. I didn't notice any other bird lists but that might have been because their teams weren't really in the running.

Because of the team aspect ATC lists tend to be very different from what you'd take to a singles event. Our list was built to be able to handle just about anything and get a solid win, but not necessarily max points, and it did that pretty much perfectly.

Regarding the spamminess of ATC lists, a lot of those will be fixed in the near future with FAQs and missions. Without fewest drops autogetting first ravens don't really work. Brims and birds (and maybe conscripts) are getting the nerf bat pretty hard. Etc.

Do we have anything other than bird spam that might be able to fight back against those lists? Flyer lists will be super difficult for sure, maybe you can use birds spread out to make them all crash.

I feel like we have the tools with dark light weapons and massed splinter fire but we really need to be careful with what we bring to the table.

Hard Counters is best way to win against spam.

If you try to fight Rock vs Rock, you have to have the stronger rock and go 1st.

Something to think about is 3 Tantalus with all Trueborns inside.

You only have 3 Drops so you will go 1st 5/6 times, you fill the Tantalus with as much Dark light weapons as you can.

Im talking about 1v1 not teams.  Your list could be this
